Sherwood Park
Homes on Greeley's quiet streets
Most homes in Sherwood Park are older single-family builds from the 1960s and 70s, with some townhomes and condos mixed in. “It’s mostly ranches and tri-levels,” says Nitzel. “The nice thing is there’s no HOA fees in Sherwood Park.” Homes range from about $250,000 to $400,000. Homes sit on quiet, residential roads with wide sidewalks. Most properties have private driveways and one-car garages. Front and backyards are shaded by large oak trees. Townhomes dominate the western end of the neighborhood and are equipped with community tennis courts and pools.Golf at Greeley County Club
The area gets its name from the large Sherwood Park covering most of the neighborhood’s northeast corner. There are eight pickleball courts, a basketball court and a baseball field. There are also covered picnic areas, a walking path and a playground. Just to the west of the neighborhood is Bittersweet Park, which has expansive green space. Residents fish in the stocked pond or walk on the paved path on the park’s border. “They recently updated the park, and it has a really nice memorial wall for veterans as well,” says Nitzel. Also nearby is the Greeley Country Club, which features an 18-hole course, tennis courts, swimming pools and dining areas.Dining at Ambrosia Asian Bistro
Groceries are found at Safeway and Food King, both located in Bittersweet Plaza, less than a mile from most Sherwood Park homes. Within a mile of the neighborhood are furniture stores, comic book shops and major hardware outlets. Alberto’s is a local Mexican spot with brightly colored walls and margaritas. Ambrosia Asian Bistro is a hip restaurant with exposed brick and plenty of menu options ranging from Hibachi to sushi to noodle dishes.Walking to Scott Elementary
Kids in Sherwood Park head to Scott Elementary, which is located in the neighborhood. The school holds a C Niche grade and has a 16-to-1 student-teacher ratio. Heath Middle School also holds a C ranking, while Greeley Central High School has a B grade. The high school, which opened in 1895, has undergone extensive remodels over the past 130 years. However, the front façade has remained unchanged. The campus was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.Riding the GET buses
The GET (Greeley Evans Transit) runs buses along 35th Avenue in Sherwood Park. Interstate 25 provides access to Denver, which is 64 miles south. Just a few blocks west is the Banner North Colorado Medical Center, a Level II Trauma Center.
