Spacious properties and centralized location in Schmitt Park

On the eastern side of Green Bay, Schmitt Park is a suburb that offers space and easy access to the rest of the city. Because its closer to the outskirts of the city, Schmitt Park residents can find properties with more land, even compared to other eastern neighborhoods. The streets here end in cul-de-sacs, creating an intimate and private feel, but the community is also located along I-43, which connects residents with shopping centers and downtown Green Bay. When Schmitt Park residents want to stretch their legs and connect with nature, the nearby parks are just a short drive away.

Busing or driving to the grocery store via University Avenue

County Road and University Avenue are the access points to Schmitt Park, both connecting residents with the nearby grocery store. Buses also run along University Avenue, for another way to get to the grocery store. I-43 runs along the western side of Schmitt Park, connecting to downtown. Kathy Welty, a local Realtor with Coldwell Banker highlights that all of Green Bay’s interstates and highways form a loop around the city, making it easy to get around the city. Even though Schmitt Park might be on the far eastern side of the city boundary, its location along I-43 keeps residents connected with the rest of Green Bay. Residents can take the interstate or WI-57 to get to downtown Green Bay, about 5 miles away. Aurora Bay Medical Center is about 6 miles away, down I-43, but there’s also the Milo C. Hiking around Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary and Triangle Sports Area

Located near the city's namesake bay, the neighborhood is also close to the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. Wearing sturdy hiking boots or cross-country skis in the snow, visitors adventure along the 5-mile trail that winds through the 600-acre park. The park looks over the Lake Michigan bay and offers anglers spots to cast their fishing lines. Also to the north is the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB), which offers trails throughout campus, like the Arboretum Trail. Along the southern side of Schmitt Park is the Arnie Wolff Sports Complex, which features six soccer fields for the city’s local leagues. The eastern Green Bay's soccer league—the Green Bay Strikers—often play here. On the other side of I-43, Triangle Sports Area is another hiking destination, with a hilly terrain that's ideal for adventure-seeking hikers and mountain bikers. In the winter, it transforms into a local sledding and skiing spot.

Just south of Schmitt Park, East Town, a local shopping center, offers more restaurants and grocery stores. Here, Uncle Mike’s Bake Shoppe sells pastries and baked goods, including their specialty—kringles. This Danish pastry is made from several layers of thin dough and is stuffed with different fillings. Holiday plays at UWGB and Packers games at Lambeau

Because Schmitt Park is so close to UWGB, residents can attend the events hosted there, like the plays and shows hosted by the theatre department at the Weidner Center. Welty shares that many Green Bay residents head to this theater in the winter to catch a holiday performance. In the summer, Green Bay’s Broadway District hosts the Farmers’ Market on Broadway on Wednesday afternoons, featuring over 100 vendors and live music. Even though Schmitt Park residents are further from the Packers stadium than other neighborhoods, the whole city shows up at Lambeau Field during the pro football season to support their team.
