Battlefield's ample green space includes a Revolutionary War site

Battlefield gets its name from the fact that it sits on the site of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, fought during the American Revolution. Hundreds of acres of the battlefield were preserved, creating an expanse of trails and woodlands on the neighborhood's southern end. The battlefield connects to Country Park, which provides another couple of hundred acres for outdoor recreation and relaxation that's within 2 miles of every house in Battlefield. Residents enjoy plenty of green space close to home, while the Greensboro Urban Loop passes through the community and keeps people connected to the rest of the city.

These Colonial Revival designs often come with private patios and access to community pools and tennis courts, and usually sell from the upper $100,000s to the upper $300,000s. Single-family houses fill the rest of the neighborhood. Colonial Revival architecture is common for detached homes, as is ranch-style architecture. Most recently sold homes fetched prices from the lower $200,000s to the upper $300,000s.

Battleground Parks District covers military site, large park

The Battleground Parks District covers around 400 acres just south of the neighborhood. Guilford Courthouse National Military Park anchors the district and preserves an American Revolution battle site. Thirteen miles of trails meander through the area and pass by war monuments. Every March, reenactors don 18th-century American and British military uniforms and recreate the battle, an annual tradition that draws crowds and vendors to the battlefield. Visitors to the military park can easily get to nearby Country Park. “There’s a greenway attached to Battlefield Park, which connects to Country Park and will shortly be connected to downtown Greensboro, all the way to northern parts of Guilford County,” says Wayne Young, a Realtor with Howard Hanna Allen Tate Real Estate who lives in the neighborhood. The sprawling Country Park has amenities such as:

  • A pair of fishing lakes with piers
  • A dog park
  • A mountain biking area
  • Pedal boats for the lakes
Country Park is next to the Greensboro Science Center, a museum with a butterfly house, ropes course, zoo and carousel.

Battlefield residents can utilize the expansive greenways for walking, jogging and biking.
