Living near Greensboro's lakes in The Harbor
It's not a literal waterside port, but The Harbor provides quick access to a couple of Greensboro's lakes. They include Lake Brandt, an 800-acre reservoir a mile away that attracts boaters, paddlers and anglers from all over Greensboro. The water isn't the only draw to Lake Brandt, which has a shoreline covered by the courts and driving range of Bur-Mil Park and a greenway with scenic lake views. The Harbor is on the far north end of the city, but the nearby Greensboro Urban Loop speeds up the drive when it's time to travel around town.

Homes from the 1980s and '90s in a suburban setting
The Harbor mostly consists of two types of homes. Colonial Revivals built in the 1980s line streets on the eastern and southern sides of the neighborhood, and New Traditional houses from the '90s cover the rest of the community. The community layout, which features small yards and winding streets often ending in cul-de-sacs, is typical of suburban neighborhoods. Homes typically sell from the mid-$200,000s to the upper $400,000s.
The Harbor is home to many varieties of Colonial-inspired homes.
Brick homes are common in The Harbor.

A marina grants boaters and anglers access to Lake Brandt
The Harbor's proximity to Lake Brandt and Lake Jeanette is a major draw, says Zelma Holyfield, a real estate agent at Triad First Realty Inc. “People come from all over Greensboro to enjoy the lakes in this area.” At Lake Brandt Marina, kayaks, canoes and paddleboards are available to rent from May to October, or visitors can launch their own. Anglers who don't set out on the water in search of bass and crappie can cast from the marina's fishing pier. The Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway crosses over Lake Brandt, giving pedestrians and cyclists views of the water as they travel the 8-mile path. There's no way for the public to access Lake Jeanette, but members of the Lake Jeanette Swim & Tennis Club can use the club's private marina. Recreation isn't only focused on the water; Bur-Mil Park has a driving range and a mountain bike trail.
You can fish from the pier at Lake Brandt.
Motorboats are allowed on Lake Brandt.
