Deep within northern Greensboro sits Bellwood Village. This suburban community is surrounded by restaurants, shopping centers and farmers markets, and it lies just south of scenic Lake Jeanette. Proximity to the Greensboro Urban Loop means the attractions of downtown Greensboro are easily accessible for drivers. "It's a really hot area to be in right now," says John Welch, a Real Estate Broker with John Welch Builders and Realty. "It's close to everything that someone would need, whether that's your job, shopping or restaurants."

Access to the Greensboro Urban Loop simplifies commutes
"One of the great draws to the area is its convenience," says Welch. "You're right there by the Loop, which allows you to get around the city quickly." That said, access to a vehicle is a must. There aren't any bus stops, train stations or other forms of public transportation in or near the community.

Luxury townhomes on Baylor Street
Branching off Baylor Street, the area's main thoroughfare, are a few smaller communities that make up the Bellwood Village neighborhood. Most housing in the area consists of luxury townhouses, some from the early 2000s, others from the 1980s. The older townhomes are often priced below $200,000, while the newer ones range from $200,000 to $300,000. At the end of Baylor Street sit larger, single-family homes. These price a bit higher, often between $350,000 and $520,000.

Highly-rated Guilford County schools
"The Guilford school district is a strong selling point for families," says Tamara Chapman, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty. "It's one of the best in Greensboro." Jesse Wharton Elementary School is the closest to Bellwood Village. According to GreatSchools, students at Wharton have test scores far above the state average. The school received an overall Niche grade of B-plus. Like Wharton, Mendenhall Middle School is an above-average school with an overall Niche grade of B. Students finish their secondary education at Page High School, which has an overall Niche grade of A-minus. The school offers a wide selection of extracurriculars, from Robotics Club and Mock Trial to Ultimate Frisbee and Psychology Club.

Kids play at Sheridan Park
One of the closest parks is Sheridan Park, an 18-acre space tucked into the woodsy outskirts of Bellwood Village. The park offers a playground for the kids and a baseball field for neighborhood games. Just south is Carolina Laurel Park, a pocket park with a small playground. The Greensboro Science Center is only 3 miles west of the community in Country Park. "We offer sensory-friendly nights for our community members who may be sensitive to noise and light," says Tucker Campbell, the Science Center's Community Programs Manager. "We turn the lights down low, and don't play any music. It makes the center accessible to those who may be on the spectrum." The center also hosts fun events like Ocean Day, Shark Week and Winter Wonderlights. Local teens can participate in the Junior Docent Program or the Camp Assistant Teen Program. "We're always looking for volunteers," says Campbell. "It's a great way for teens to get involved."

Local businesses and familiar brands are both close at hand
Bellwood Village is closely located to shopping, restaurants and markets. About a mile east is the Village at North Elm Shopping Center. Essentials are available at the nearby Harris Teeter, while Sante Fe Mexican Grill or Mediterraneo Restaurant and Pizzeria are both options for dining out. Forgotten Road Ales Greensboro offers a chance to unwind over a drink. The brewery has a sleek ambiance and a diverse list of beers. Jeanette Commons provides even more dining options, including Elm Steet Grill, which boasts and extensive menu with items like stir fry, alfredo and jambalaya. The Garden Valley Farmers Market is a few miles east of the community on North Church Street. It's a great place to go if you want to shop local: All items sold come from nearby farms and artisans.
