Kids play at Sheridan Park

One of the closest parks is Sheridan Park, an 18-acre space tucked into the woodsy outskirts of Bellwood Village. The park offers a playground for the kids and a baseball field for neighborhood games. Just south is Carolina Laurel Park, a pocket park with a small playground. The Greensboro Science Center is only 3 miles west of the community in Country Park. "We offer sensory-friendly nights for our community members who may be sensitive to noise and light," says Tucker Campbell, the Science Center's Community Programs Manager. "We turn the lights down low, and don't play any music. It makes the center accessible to those who may be on the spectrum." The center also hosts fun events like Ocean Day, Shark Week and Winter Wonderlights. Local teens can participate in the Junior Docent Program or the Camp Assistant Teen Program. "We're always looking for volunteers," says Campbell. "It's a great way for teens to get involved."
