Brice Street has a convenient location for university employees and young professionals
“The Brice Street Area is very convenient to the universities and downtown, making it a great place for students, university employees and young professionals alike,” says Anna Messick, Realtor with GiAnna Homes, a graduate of UNCG and lifelong resident of Greensboro. “It’s hard to find a house, though.” Along the sidewalk-lined streets of the community, brick and wood-sided homes from the 1930s rest behind towering magnolias, willow oaks and crepe myrtles. Though most properties have paved side driveways, street parking is standard as well. A variety of neighborhood restaurants and businesses within walking distance add to the desirability of the Brice Street area.

Plenty of dining options on Spring Garden Street and Walker Avenue
Along Spring Garden Street and Walker Avenue, locals can find most of the restaurants and small businesses. According to Messick, the intersection of Walker and Elam avenues is known as “Four Corners” or “The Corner,” and it’s a hot spot for residents to grab a bite to eat or a drink with a friend. There is also Bestway, a small grocery store. “It has a huge craft beer selection,” Messick says. “Most people go to the Friendly Center for shopping — it has a Harris Teeter and Whole Foods. It’s got everything you need.” There are also a variety of bars, including Jake’s, which holds an appeal with college students, and wine bars, which are “more popular with adults,” Messick says.

Events at the Greensboro Coliseum
The Greensboro Coliseum has a constant stream of events, perfect for sports fans and for those looking to catch their favorite performer live. “There are also a lot of community activities,” Messick says. “Some of them are put together by the Sunset Hills neighborhood, but Brice Street Area residents participate as well. For example, in December, they hang Christmas balls filled with lights, and there is a 5K race called Running of the Balls.” On Saturdays, there is a farmers market on Market Street.
