Green Valley is the place to be
Home to the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden and many a tree-covered lawn, Green Valley has earned its name. But this verdant community isn’t some isolated exurb, it’s smack-dab in the middle of northwestern Greensboro and all its associated amenities and attractions. “The advantage of Green Valley is you’re closer to Friendly Center and Bryan Boulevard, but the biggest appeal is the lower price points than what can be found to the west,” says John Nosek, Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway who has sold homes across the Triad for 8 years. Another advantage comes in the form of Green Valley’s close-knit community, which continues to welcome new members. If you want to have good friends and good neighbors, this is the place to go,” says Jim Dowell, who has sold homes in the Triad for 16 years and is the founder of the Dowell Group real estate team with Berkshire Hathaway. “There are a lot of first-time homebuyers who grew up here or know people here.”

A mix of homes under the canopy
For the most part, the neighborhood consists of a mix of ranch-style homes and split-levels. Two-stories are more common on the south side of Green Valley, such as stately brick Colonial Revivals and modern New Traditionals with stone facades. Larger homes tend to come with attached garages, while smaller homes tend to come with long, narrow driveways. Sidewalks are uncommon. Although most all properties are shaded by tall trees, forests are especially dense on the community’s west side, affording homeowners a great deal of privacy. “Trees are very mature here, since these houses were built before clear cutting – cutting all the trees on a lot – was a thing,” Nosek says. Dowell concurs, adding that “I think one of the reasons it was named Green Valley is because of how green it is.” Homes with less than 3,000 square feet of interior space tend to go between $280,000 and $500,000. For a larger home, it’s $700,000 to $1.2 million. Townhouses sit along Northline Avenue near the southwest corner of the neighborhood, priced between $345,000 and $400,000.
