Residents of Groomestown may feel like they’re off the beaten path, but they have direct access to Interstate Highways 85 and 73, along with U.S. Route 421. These major highways border the neighborhood on its northern and eastern edges, making commutes to Greensboro employers and attractions easy. Access to a vehicle is a must, as there aren’t any bus stops within the community.

Escape the heat
Groometown is close to a few parks that residents often enjoy, one of which includes Southwest Park. The park is a 500-acre haven of outdoor amenities, including nature trails, picnic shelters and several playgrounds for the kids. Many particularly enjoy the park for its marina, where locals can rent a non-motorized boat and explore the branching waters of Randleman Lake. Other options include Shannon Woods Park, a 28-acre park featuring ample green space, a basketball court and a playground. Local athletes can play a few innings on the park’s baseball diamond.
Wet n’ Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park is a popular attraction for greater Greensboro, especially Groomestown residents. The water park is just a few miles north of the community and is an ideal way to beat the summer heat. The park features adventurous, high-thrill waterslides, a lazy river and smaller, kid-friendly attractions. Visitors can rent a cabana for various celebrations and get-togethers as well.

Pick your produce
Surrounded by farmland, it’s only natural that Groomestown residents enjoy grabbing their produce from local farms. Bernie’s Berries at Kenan Farm is just south of the neighborhood and is best known for its berry picking and fresh strawberries. While picking is a part of the experience, visitors can grab berries and other produce to go. Produce options include anything from cabbage and cucumbers to tomatoes and pumpkins. For other shopping needs, there’s a Walmart Supercenter and a Food Lion, just northeast of the community.
