A small suburban pocket of northeastern Greensboro with a royal theme
Kings Forest has a bit of a theme. Aside from its royal moniker, street names like Queen Beth Drive, King Arthur Place and Lord Jeff Drive scatter this small Greensboro community, prompting a royally suburban feel. Houses are modest in size; several stores are nearby, and residents here stick around for a long time. "I grew up in Kings Forest, and I loved it," says real estate broker Kevin Corpening of Realty One Group Results. Corpening has sold homes across the area for just over four years. "It's just one of those close-knit neighborhoods where everybody knows one another. You get a strong sense of community that's hard to get somewhere else."
Kings Forest residents enjoy a quiet suburban feel only minutes from downtown.

Locals mainly live in mid-century ranch-styles and split levels
Kings Forest was developed throughout the 1960s and '70s, so homes here have deep roots. Houses typically feature between 1,200 and 1,500 square feet with at least three bedrooms, often costing between $150,000 and $250,000. Buyers will find a few traditional colonials, but standard housing designs include ranch styles and split levels with attached carports or garages. Many residents maintain the landscaping of their quarter-acre yards, adorning them with shrubbery and gardens. "The yards tend to be a little bit bigger in terms of space," Corpening says. The community's royally named streets are characterized by cul-de-sacs, mature oaks and ample streetlights that promote lit evening walks.
Ranch homes are very common in Kings Forest.
Split level homes are still very common in Kings Forest.

A day at Kings Forest Park
Kings Forest Park is the neighborhood's only park and the primary outdoor respite for most residents. The park is part of the Neighborwoods Community Tree Planting Program, an organized effort to increase the park's tree population. Tucked between Lord Foxley and Larchmont Drive, the park covers six acres with a playground and ample green space. A prominent park feature is its colorful, painted basketball court, where local athletes enjoy shooting hoops. "Growing up there, I actually spent a lot of my time on that basketball court," Corpening says. The few sidewalks in Kings Forest surround the park, and several points have small murals and hopscotch paintings. Locals enjoy indoor recreation at the Greensboro Sportsplex, a few miles west. The city-operated athletic complex is dedicated to community-wide sports and events, featuring several courts, fields and rinks that accommodate a wide range of sports.
Kings Forest even adds beautiful art to their basketball courts.
