Lawndale Homes is a suburban neighborhood with a handful of churches and plenty of trees interspersed among 20th-century homes. The neighborhood is close to family-friendly activities at the Greensboro Science Center and plenty of shopping and dining along Battleground Avenue. Homeowners living close to the private Lawndale Club can walk to the clubhouse; however, most residential streets don’t have sidewalks or bike lanes. Outdoor recreation abounds between the private club and city park
The Lawndale Club is located on the neighborhood’s eastern boundary, and access is restricted to members only. The annual dues range from $490 for individuals to $990 for families, and grant access to the outdoor pool, tennis and pickleball courts, as well as attendance at various club-sponsored social events. The club’s three lighted tennis courts and ten new lighted pickleball courts host tournaments, leagues and lessons. The recently renovated outdoor pool organizes swim lessons, swim team practices and movie nights.
For free outdoor fun, the City of Greensboro Country Park spans over 400 acres and includes outdoor amenities like playgrounds, soccer fields, a dog park and a baseball diamond. Shaded, paved walking paths wind through the trees and past the Guilford County Veterans Memorial. The park’s ponds allow for fishing from either the bank or the designated fishing pier, and pedal boat are available to rent. The J. Spencer Love Tennis Center within the park features 13 lighted clay courts and four pickleball courts.

Education and entertainment at Greensboro Science Center
The City of Greensboro Country Park is also home to a charming carousel next to the Greensboro Science Center, which are both popular with families. The science center has a planetarium, aquarium and zoo, where guests can learn about the galaxy and aquatic life, and admire the strutting peacocks and waddling penguins. The center hosts summer camps for kids interested in robots, animals, space and other scientific topics. The Science Center also offers an aerial adventure park with ropes courses, as well as a zipline that gives participants a chance to fly through the trees and see the park from above.

The neighborhood is equidistant between Greensboro Medical Center and Cone Health Moses Cone Hospital, about 3 miles from each.
