Madison Woods
Cape Cod and Colonial Revival homes on peaceful streets
Aside from Tower Road, a neighborhood connector, the streets here are mainly quiet with little traffic so despite a lack of sidewalks in most areas, drivers can safely share the road with residents out on a walk. Madison Woods is comprised mostly of homes from the 1960s and 1970s, yet a fair amount of new construction has covered the area. Houses are diverse in look with ranch-style, Cape Cod and Colonial Revival designs most common, typically resting on quarter-acre, manicured lots with tall mature trees providing shade. Three to four-bedroom builds are often priced between $300,000 and $400,000 but new builds along Beckwith Drive are a bit more expensive, often surpassing the $400,000 mark. A newly built townhouse along Cannon Crossing Way starts at $250,000.School choice at Guildford County Schools
Students here attend Guilford County Schools which gives families the ability to choose where they’d like to enroll their child. Students can start at Jefferson Elementary School earning a B-plus grade from Niche. The school is a Positive Behavior Intervention Support school, which is a nationally recognized program that teaches students specific behavioral expectations and champions good choices. Students typically move on to B-minus-rated Western Guilford Middle School, featuring a popular after-school program that provides additional educational enrichment through STEM activities, reading programs and tutoring. Most students finish school at Western Guilford High School with a B rating. Families here also have a few private education options, including the Covenant School, which offers Kindergarten through Grade 11, and New Garden Friends School, offering preschool through Grade 12.A birdwatcher’s destination at Hamilton Lakes Park
Just east of Madison Woods is Hamilton Lakes Park. Residents can venture over to the 60-acre peaceful retreat for a walk on the nature trails or to relax by the lake. Many enjoy birdwatching here as the dense forest provides a great habitat for all sorts of species of birds such as Red-Shouldered Hawks or Eastern Screech-Owls. For access to an indoor gymnasium, baseball and soccer fields and the Bicentennial Greenway, residents can drive 3 miles to Leonard Recreation Center.Shopping, dining and nightlife at Quaker Village
Grocery lists are checked off at Quaker Village, anchored by a Walmart Neighborhood Market with a Harris Teeter nearby. From soul food to international eats, the shopping plaza features multiple spots for a meal. Authentic tacos and margaritas are the usual order at Taqueria El Azteca, while longtime local Italian chain, Elizabeth's Pizza, serves traditional pies and pasta. For date night, couples head to MJ’s Restaurant, a family-owned spot for surf and turf. Breakers is the local hangout open until the late hours of the night. The sports bar frequently hosts pool and dart competitions that locals enjoy participating in.Get around town with the Greensboro Urban Loop
Though it’s somewhat bikeable here, most residents drive around town, taking advantage of the neighborhood’s proximity to the Greensboro Urban Loop, a beltway that circles the city. Friendly Avenue connects residents to the heart of Greensboro 6 miles away with Greensboro Transit Agency bus stops lining the thoroughfare. Piedmont Triad International Airport is about a 7-mile drive west.
