Community appreciated for its rural vibe
Located just north of the scenic Randleman Lake Reservoir, the Old Randleman area is among the communities found in the vast rural lands immediately south of Greensboro. The narrow and two-lane country roads here cut through gently rolling landscape made up of a mix of open field spaces and dense sections of mature trees. “There are farms out there, but way less farms than there used to be,” says Tracy Carter, a broker with the Kelly Wirt Realty Group, who grew up in the area. Similar to some other nearby communities, Old Randleman has been home to several generations of families who have enjoyed its more quiet feel. “It’s just a small town community. Folks have lived there for years and years and years. People don’t typically move out. They stay and their kids stay,” Carter says. “It’s not quite as Mayberry-ish as some places may be, but you’re close to Greensboro, close to all the things you want to do. But you get a home where you’re kind of away from it all.” Old Randleman, however, could see some housing changes in the future. It’s located about 16 miles west of Liberty, which is where auto maker Toyota is building a battery manufacturing facility for electric cars. The project is set to create more than 5,000 jobs, meaning there’s expectations many workers will look for housing beyond the small town of Liberty. “All the areas are right for the picking,” Carter says.

Lots can range from around a half-acre to well over 4 acres. Like with its rural neighbors, there hasn’t been a great deal of turnover with Old Randleman. Price points can go from just over $220,000 for a 1,000-square-foot ranch-style house to nearly $450,000 for a similar, but larger and more stylized build on more than double the acreage.
