Greensboro neighborhood blending suburban ease with individual charm
While Three Meadows is less meadow and more forest, this Northern Greensboro neighborhood from the late 1970s does have three pivotal draws: convenience, character and comfort. The community, centered along Lake Jeanette Road, is less than a mile from some of the area’s most popular green spaces, family-friendly attractions, locally loved restaurants and high-end grocery stores. The serene residential streets here offer a suburban style of living without being cookie-cutter. Pair all of this with good public and private schools, and that’s why single-family homes here don’t stay on the market long, selling after 14 days on average.
Homes unique to their owners on landscaped lots
The long residential streets of Three Meadows are shaded by tall oak, yellow poplar and red maple trees. Sidewalks aren’t missed. Without through traffic, it’s common to see neighbors out for a stroll. Diverse architecture is a feast for the eyes here. From midcentury paneling to shingle siding and colorful shutters, no house is the same, and unlike nearby subdivisions, there’s no homeowners association. Houses rest on lots about a third of an acre, and yards are well-manicured to each homeowner’s taste, featuring decorative gardens, shrubs and ornamental trees. While brick ranch-style homes are most common, buyers will also find Colonial Revivals, Cape Cods, split-level homes and some contemporary dwellings typically ranging in price between $250,000 and $400,000, with most buyers paying in the $300,000s.
Highly rated public schools with private options nearby
Students in Three Meadows attend Guilford County Schools, typically starting at James Y. Joyner Elementary School, earning a B-minus rating from Niche. Students can then head to B-rated Mendenhall Middle School, which offers athletic programs like golf, basketball, wrestling, and cheer. Teens can finish their degrees at Page High School. Receiving a B-plus on its Niche report card, the school provides a range of extracurricular activities, from Ultimate Frisbee and Mock Trial Competitions to the Student Council Association. For families interested in private, Montessori or charter schools, Greensboro Day School, Canterbury School, Greensboro Montessori School and Greensboro Academy are nearby.
Outdoor fun in the Battleground Parks District
Families can walk to the neighborhood’s Three Meadows Park for playground playdates. Whole days can be spent nearby at Country Park, the city’s more than 400-acre recreational oasis anchored by the Greensboro Science Center. After exploring the museum, zoo and aquarium, visitors can head into the park for pedal boating around the lake or to watch anglers reel in catfish and large mouth bass. A big draw is the miles of forested hiking trails and greenways. “You can literally ride your bike all day long on those trails. It’s a great resource, and it’ll be greater soon because they’re working on connectors downtown,” says Wayne Young, a real estate broker with Allen Tate Realtors who lives nearby. Just south of the park is Stoner-White Stadium, built for youth baseball tournaments, and the J. Spencer Love Tennis Center, host to tennis matches and clinics.
Retail and restaurants around the corner
For shopping and dining, residents drive to the commercial corridor along Lawndale Drive, dotted with grocery stores, pharmacies, a garden center and local businesses. Young says locals typically pick up the essentials at The Fresh Market in the Cross Point shopping center. He loves to stop into Delicious Bakery next stoor. It’s a cozy place to grab a spot on the couch, sip coffee, and enjoy a cupcake or scone. Locals head to CharBar7 for dinner, a classy yet comfortable restaurant for drinks, burgers and steaks.
Drive around Greensboro
Private transportation is a must-have here, but it's easy to get around with Interstate 840 less than a mile away. Lawndale Drive is used for commutes to Downtown Greensboro, 5 1/2 miles away. The same street is lined with Greensboro Transit Agency bus stops for rides to Greensboro Station with Amtrak train and Greyhound bus stops. Piedmont Triad International Airport is 9 miles away.
