A well-known retail hub with lesser-known homes
Wendover Place is a well-known Greensboro commercial center. Tucked between Interstate 40 and Interstate 73, big-box stores, strip malls and shopping centers sprawl across the suburban landscape. While this retail hub draws residents from across the surrounding area, a select few who prefer more immediate access to these amenities call it home. “The location is the primary draw for people moving to the area because it’s convenient to so many shops and restaurants, as well as a lot of the major highways,” says Laura Ashley, a leasing agent at Wendover aXcess Apartments. Although there are no single-family homes in Wendover Place, condo and townhouse communities make for convenient living close to the Interstates and shopping.
Apartment complexes, condos and townhouses
Wendover Place is populated by apartments, condos and townhouses. Most are arranged in sidewalk-lined cul-de-sacs, lending this community of multifamily homes more of a neighborhood feel. Scattered trees along the small townhouse lawns and large parking lots provide some shade. A little more than half of residents in Wendover Place own their homes, and certain areas offer shared amenities such as playgrounds. Condos typically list between $100,000 and $190,000, while townhouses can be priced from $110,000 to $225,000.

Major national retailers with local and chain eateries
This neighborhood is tucked behind a sprawling retail center where Interstates 73, 40 and 840 all meet. Between the Wendover Place shopping complex and the surrounding strip malls, residents can grab groceries from Target or Walmart and stock up on wholesale goods at Sam’s Club or Costco. Other big-box stores include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Kohl’s, Home Depot, Hobby Lobby and more, covering a wide range of shopping needs. “I do all my shopping over there,” says Tiffany Clark, a Realtor with Lewis & Clark Realtors. “There’s a bowling alley, Spare Time, that we go to all the time. And there’s a new Top Golf under construction just a couple miles away.” Chain restaurants and fast-food drive-thrus are abundant here, though a handful of local eateries can be found. Big Burger Spot is a casual stop-in with a selection of signature burgers, sandwiches and fries, and Cooper’s Ale House is frequented for brews, specialty cocktails and pub fare like pizza and wings. Jake’s Diner serves classic, homestyle American plates and is especially popular for breakfast, while Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar offers fiery tableside hibachi and a large selection of specialty sushi rolls.
