Views of the Sassafras Mountains showcase the beauty and wildness of South Carolina. Located on the outskirts of Greenville, the neighborhood of North Greenville is known for investing in its community during rapid population growth. “Between new jobs opening up and new developments being built, we’re seeing a huge influx in population in Greenville,” says Brianna Bothof, a realtor with LPT Realty who lives in Greenville and has worked in real estate for the past ten years. “One thing I love about living here is that the county has invested in our parks department. Everything is getting a makeover. We’re putting in new parks, updating amenities, and continuously expanding our hiking and walking trails, making it a better place to live every day.”

Ample greenspace and parks infrastructure

North Greenville offers plenty of outdoor recreation options. Herdklotz Park is a spacious and well-maintained city park with paved trails, a sand volleyball court, two sports fields and a shaded pavilion for picnicking. A smaller park, Piney Mountain Park, provides a soccer field and ample parking. On the neighborhood's eastern side, the Wade Hampton Athletic Complex offers baseball and softball fields, a rubber track and tennis courts. Nearby, the Wade Hampton Gardens Pool provides an outdoor pool with lifeguards and a diving tank. Unlike the Athletic Complex, the Gardens Pool does require a membership. Another recreation option is the Bike Skills Park at Gateway, which provides a variety of mountain bike training obstacles, including wooden bridges, rock quarries and drops. For those who prefer skating over biking, Poe Mill DIY Skatepark has a creative terrain that is perfect for skateboarding enthusiasts. When locals are looking for a longer hike or a weekend camping trip, they head north to Paris Mountain State Park, a 15-mile park with a campground, public restrooms and paddle boating on Lake Placid.
