Pleasantburg's growing exurbs
Rapid growth: two words that ring true in Pleasantburg. This suburban neighborhood is just 3 miles from Greenville's award-winning downtown entertainment epicenter, home to a 17,000-seat arena, expansive civic center and nationally recognized museums. Because it is almost exclusively sunny, locals enjoy the surrounding 39 parks and recreation spots all year round. "The climate is why people are moving here," says Tatiana Moore and Leatrice Amegnihe, two employees at Home Emporium off Mauldin Road. "It's been happening since the pandemic: people are tired of the cold in the west and north, and they're moving here in numbers." Pleasantburg is 63 miles from Asheville, 101 miles from Charlotte and 251 miles from the lapping waves of Myrtle Beach. "You get the best of everything here," Moore says. "On top of the mountains and the coast, we've got true southern hospitality."
Fresh builds on Alston Chase
Side-by-side lots with multistory gray and blue single-family homes line roads like Alston Chase. These freshly constructed Craftsman-inspired homes feature quartz countertops and bright white cabinets and sell between $340,000 and $400,000. Towards the northern leg of Pleasantburg sits several apartment complexes, often snagged by those getting a feel of Greenville before buying.
The average listing price for homes in Pleasantburg is around $400,000.

Pleasantburg's future scholars and homebuyers
Greenville Country Schools is the largest public school system in the state. Lead Academy, a charter school that serves students through kindergarten and eighth grade, earns a C-plus from Niche. Students can then attend the A-minus graded JL Mann High School, which offers over 50 clubs and organizations. "We have very diverse schools with a ton of resources," Amegnihe says. "They give them a challenge and something to reach for, and it pays off; our kids move on to college and eventually become our next homebuyers."

Massive growth means traffic on I-85
South Carolina 291 and Interstate 85 intersect at Woodruff Road, providing residents access to downtown Greenville. "One thing to keep in mind is our infrastructure," Moore says. "Everyone is moving here, and I-85 reflects that." Immediate healthcare needs can be met at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, less than a mile west of Pleasantburg. The Donaldson Center Airport and Greenville Downtown Airport are two miles south and 3 miles north, respectively.

Magnolia Park is 6 miles from home
South Main Street offers Publix in Mauldin Square and a few fast-food options. Traveling 6 miles west on Interstate 85, locals can reach Magnolia Park for Whole Foods Market, Target, and Trader Joe's next to the Cineplex. A nearby play area entertains the kids before dinner at one of several restaurant chains like Cheddars before hitting the bowling lanes at Spare Time across Roper Mountain Road. Downtown Greenville's growing farm-to-table scene sets it apart from other small cities, and with craft beer gaining popularity, locals can take a hoppy tour or two before basking in the city's public art, from vibrant murals to miniature bronze mice statues hidden along Main Street.
Hot wings, cold beer, and good times can be found at Wild Wing Cafe.

Bird watching at Conestee Nature Preserve
Surrounded by athletic fields and swaths of small and large green spaces, Pleasantburg provides ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. A little over 4 miles south is Conestee Nature Preserve, where bird watchers scan the tree line on observation decks. Families at Legacy Park, 3 miles away, enjoy a volleyball game and time at the playground on weekends. Downtown Greenville is only 3 miles away, and Cleveland Park Drive brings locals to the Greenville Zoo along Richland Creek, which marries into Reedy River. Trailing into Greenville, Reedy cuts through the 23-mile Swamp Rabbit Trail and flows swiftly under a suspended walking bridge at Falls Park. Locals bask in the mini-waterfalls before returning to Main Street's shops, craft-beer joints, diverse restaurants or baseball games at Fluor Field. Founded in 1895, Greenville Country Club is a few miles from downtown, providing private members a Saturday afternoon on two 18-hole championship golf courses.

Artisphere and art museums
Almost 100,000 art enthusiasts flock to Greenville every May for the three-day-long Artisphere and Fall for Greenville returns to Main Street every October, bringing the city's 'tastes, tunes, and taps' together for three days straight. "There's something to do all the time," Moore and Amegnihe agree. "A favorite is Restaurant Week in January. Here in Greenville, we like to eat." Outside of the festival crowds, residents can visit the Greenville County Museum of Art and the Artist Guild Gallery of Greenville.
