"We go there in the summer to the lakeside beach. It feels like you’re way out of town, but you’re really not that far from home."Usual favorites and international flair
Dining options in Verdae include Fusion Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar, Stella’s Southern Brasserie and Papa’s & Beer Authentic Mexican Grill. Residents can also find well-known stops like Carrabba’s, Starbucks and Another Broken Egg Café along Woodruff Road. Home cooks will appreciate the area’s proximity to Publix and The Fresh Market at McAlister Square, along with Food Lion on Verdae Boulevard and Trader Joe’s and Target locations near Woodruff Road. Verdae’s residential areas sit along both sides of US-276/Laurens Road, one of east Greenville’s major thoroughfares. The neighborhood is also connected to the greater area through Interstate 385 along the north side, Pleasantburg Drive to the west and Interstate 85 to the south. Residents can drive 3 miles north along Laurens Road or Augusta Street to get to downtown Greenville. The Greenville Downtown Airport is conveniently located on Verdae’s west side for private flights, while commercial flights depart from Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, 9 miles northeast of the neighborhood.Dog bars and Poinsettia Christmas Parades
Verdae residents looking for some social time won’t always have to worry about leaving their furry friends at home. The Unleashed Dog Bar lets residents enjoy craft beers on tap in a casual setting where pups are welcome, with regular events like trivia, movie nights and drink specials. The Coliseum Billiards and Sports Bar offers pub fare next to pool tables, with a billiards league available for 8-ball experts. “Downtown Greenville hosts regular community events like our Poinsettia Christmas Parade, which has been an annual event for over 75 years," says Bothof. "The parade brings thousands of visitors and has so many fun holiday floats and activities. It’s one of the best nights of the year in Greenville.”
