Popular beaches along the coast

One of the most popular amenities in Gulf Breeze is Swenson Park, a one acre recreation ground with basketball and tennis courts, grills, picnic tables and playground equipment. It also has a walking trail with exercise equipment. Another popular option is the Gulf Islands National Seashore, a nature preserve that spans 160 miles along the Gulf of Mexico's northern coast in Mississippi and Florida and features campsites, beaches, and several miles of hiking trails. "Really take advantage of the beaches in the off-season when fewer tourists are around," says Carbaugh, who has lived in Gulf Breeze for 15 years. Gulf Breeze is also just 7 miles south of Pensacola and 2 miles north of Pensacola Beach. For additional water access, residents can head to Shoreline Park. This 155-acre park is divided into two distinct areas, Shoreline Park North and Shoreline Park South. It offers boat launches, shaded picnic areas, grills, ball fields, tennis courts and dog parks. The northern recreation ground includes the Gulf Breeze Community Center, the Sunset Kids Park and the Dolphin Island Splash Pad.

Small bungalows to large estates in Gulf Breeze

Homebuyers can find everything from small inland bungalows to large contemporary waterfront estates. Older, smaller two- to four-bedroom homes can sell for between $270,000 and $700,000, while estates along the coast can range from $1.4 million to $5 million. Smaller waterfront properties can go for a little less but still boast a price tag of between $800,000 and $1.3 million. Annual events at Gulf Breeze Library

Springfest is one of Gulf Breeze's most popular annual events. Residents gather at the Gulf Breeze Recreation Center each April for live music, shopping, games, food, and a fireworks display. Gulf Breeze Library also offers various events throughout the year, including Game Day Saturdays and book clubs. For more fun, the Gulf Breeze Zoo sits on the east end of the neighborhood. It spans 50 acres and houses nearly 1,000 animals, including giraffes and albino alligators.

Familiar shops and restaurants along Route 98

Residents can run most errands without leaving the neighborhood. A Walmart Neighborhood Market and Publix Super Market sit on the western end of the peninsula. A Winn-Dixie grocery store, Walmart Supercenter and a second Publix are located about 7 miles east, making shopping for daily necessities easy. Dozens of local shops and eateries can also be found along U.S. State Route 98, which runs through the neighborhood. One local favorite is Tacos Rock Gulf Breeze, a family-owned restaurant that offers traditional Mexican dishes. Kids may attend schools in the Santa Rosa County School District, including Gulf Breeze Elementary School, Gulf Breeze Middle School and Gulf Breeze High School, all graded an A-minus or better on Niche. Bridges connect Gulf Breeze to surrounding areas

Not only does U.S. State Route 98 run through the neighborhood, but it also connects Gulf Breeze to Pensacola via the Pensacola Bay Bridge. Pensacola International Airport is also across the bay, just over 10 miles away. Florida State Route 399 connects Gulf Breeze to Pensacola Beach via the Pensacola Beach Toll Bridge. The beach is just over 2 miles south of the neighborhood. Public Escambia County Area Transit buses serve Gulf Breeze. Stops can be found along Route 98. Gulf Breeze Hospital is located on the west end of the neighborhood.
