Citrus trees surround Gulf Gate homes near Siesta Key

Gulf Gate is easy living just 2 miles from the white sand beaches of Siesta Key and surrounded by retail and dining options. Homes quickly started being built in the 1960s on this land that was dominated by citrus trees, with fruit ready for picking in almost every yard. Homes remain mostly the same today, with some renovations. “It’s the kind of neighborhood where you don’t have HOAs, but the homeowners here keep up their properties,” says Brandi Furlan, a Realtor and Broker with Keller Williams Classic Group, who’s been selling homes nearby for 20 years.

Condos and retirement communities offer resort-style amenities

The typical single-family home in Gulf Gate is a ranch-style house with a large yard and private driveway. Palm trees dotting the neighborhood streets add to the community’s tropical aesthetic. Many of the homes incorporate Spanish-style architecture and terra cotta roofs. Single-family homes typically list in the $400,000 to $600,000 range. “They are mostly older homes,” says Furlan. “There are not a lot of teardowns and rebuilds, but many of them have been updated.” She notes that similar ranch-style homes in the neighboring planned community of Palmer Ranch can list for as much as $1 million. As for other housing in Gulf Gate, condominiums typically range between $200,000 and $300,000. These properties are concentrated at the neighborhood’s two amenities-filled retirement communities: The Fountain at Lake Pointe Woods, featuring a pool, dog park and spa/salon; and the privately owned Lakehouse West, a sprawling complex that includes a heated pool and spa and tropical landscaping. Both offer a variety of options for independent and assisted living, from studio spaces to floor plans with two bedrooms and a den.
