Resort-style living by Hamilton Marketplace

Named after the shopping center it surrounds, Hamilton Marketplace is a suburban neighborhood 10 miles east of Trenton. The area is anchored by Enchantment, a 55-plus community offering resort-style amenities. “Enchantment is a gated community,” says Kimberly Coppola, a Keller Williams Premier real estate agent with more than seven years of experience. “It has a clubhouse, a pool, rec center, fitness center — there are tons of clubs and activities for adults.” Residents enjoy walkable access to daily essentials and dozens of restaurants, while nearby Veterans Park offers green space and outdoor recreation. “The neighborhood is vibrant and active,” Coppola says. “You have the convenience of tons of shopping and all the major highways.”

New traditional homes in 55-plus Enchantment

Enchantment's homes were built in the early 2000s. “It’s one of the higher-end adult communities in Hamilton,” Coppola says. “It’s very rare for a home to pop up in that development because most people stay — it’s such a wonderful community.” Monthly homeowners association dues range from about $275 to $300, which go toward upkeep and shared amenities. “For everything included, the HOA fees are actually pretty low,” Coppola says.

Single-family homes are new traditional with Colonial-inspired features, like board-and-batten shutters and dormer windows. “They are modern homes,” Coppola says. “They have 10-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, two-car garages — great amenities.” Prices range from $600,000 to $700,000, depending on a home’s size and features.

Shared amenities and nearby Veterans Park

Enchantment offers a wide range of amenities, including an outdoor pool, fitness center and a recreation center with card games, billiards and crafts. Residents can also enjoy tennis, pickleball and bocce on the community courts. There are also lifestyle clubs and social events throughout the year, like bingo and holiday parties. “They have card nights and book clubs,” Coppola says.

About 2 miles away, the 350-acre Veterans Park features a dog park, a skate park and much more. “There are soccer and baseball fields, a playground for kids and trails,” Coppola says. “You can have a picnic or barbecue.” Birdwatchers may spot American robins, purple martins and tree swallows, while anglers can fish for largemouth bass in Martin’s Lake.

Getting around from Hamilton Marketplace

U.S. Route 130 and Interstate 195 cross in Hamilton Marketplace; the latter provides a direct route to Trenton, 10 miles away. Residents drive to get around, but NJ Transit buses also stop in the neighborhood, and the Hamilton Train Station is 11 miles away. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is a 3-mile drive, and Trenton-Mercer Airport is 15 miles away.

Department stores and chain dining at Hamilton Marketplace

Hamilton Marketplace is a convenient outdoor shopping center with a mix of national retailers, local businesses and dining options. “Everything you need is right there,” Coppola says. “There’s Burlington Coat Factory, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, BJ’s — it’s very convenient.” Walmart and ShopRite are the go-to grocery stores, while department stores like Michaels, Party City and PetSmart offer a range of everyday essentials and specialty goods.

Residents can start the morning at coffee chains like Dunkin’ and Panera Bread or head to Frutta Bowls for a superfood smoothie. Dining options range from national chains, like LongHorn Steakhouse, Red Robin and Cracker Barrel, to locally owned spots. China Grill Buffet serves everything from Cajun-style crab and sushi to wontons and fried plantain, while Legend Wings & Kebab offers a halal menu with wraps and sandwiches. After dinner, Yogurtland boasts creative flavors like toasted coconut, birthday cupcake batter and rocket pop sorbet.
