Lakeside properties in Deep Creek
Deep Creek's neighborhood streets spring with palm trees and end in cul-de-sacs. Houses were built mostly in Spanish and Mediterranean-inspired neo-traditional styles from the '80s to the present day. Some are painted in shades of gray, earth tones and pastels and have stately columns. Residents abide by Homeowners Association (HOA) agreements. "It's a mild HOA. It's like $175 a year, maybe $225 a year," says Dana Hile, a local Realtor with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage who's sold homes in the city for five years. "For renting you have to rent for at least a month at a time. If you build a fence, it can't be taller than four feet. You can't have outbuildings for lawnmowers. You have to attach it to the house," Hile says. Most homes are between 1,800 and 2,800 square feet and about half of them have backyard pools. Inland properties range from the low $300,000s to the mid $400,000s depending on square footage, age and condition. Lakeside properties go from $500,000 to over $700,000. Condos and townhouses, some also fronting water, price from the $170,000s to the high $200,000s. Deep Creep is in Flood Zone X, which means it's less prone to flooding than other areas. While Punta Gorda gets a regular influx of tropical weather, the last major hurricane was in 2022.Charlotte High School has a robotics club
Students may attend Deep Creek Elementary School, Punta Gorda Middle School and Charlotte High School within the Charlotte County Public Schools. Both the elementary and high schools earn A-minus ratings from Niche, while the middle school earns a B. Charlotte High offers clubs for different interests, from art to anime to bowling. Students can participate in Advanced Placement testing, and around 25% of them do, according to U.S. News & World Report. There's a nature preserve on Sandhill Boulevard
Deep Creek Golf Club offers a 6,000-yard course right at the center of the neighborhood, and professional golfers are on staff to help players level up. Locals can kayak in any one of the lakes surrounding homes. The southern section of Deep Creek also connects to Peace River. "Peace River is almost like a harbor in itself because it's so big, and it dumps right into Charlotte Harbor. It's hard to tell the difference between the two," Hile says. "Riding around on an air boat, where you can get into more shallow water, you see Islands with lawn chairs on them and picnic tables." On Sandhill Boulevard, there's a small nature preserve with dirt trails winding beneath tree canopies. Deep Creek Park offers multiple sports courts and a playground on the same road.Local eateries from K’s Family Pizzeria to Watson's Ice Cream
Between Rio De Janeiro Avenue and Rampart Street, locals can grab a sweet scoop at Watson's Ice Cream and a cheesy slice at K’s Family Pizzeria and Restaurant. There are also some well-loved local spots at the intersection of I-75 and Kings Highway. With string lights hanging from the ceiling and comfortable chairs for sipping and reading, Mudslide Coffee serves specialty lattes in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Locals dig into everything from boneless wings to street tacos at Beef O' Brady's, a go-to sports bar. For nights in, there's a Walmart Supercenter within 3 miles. Andrea Andreae also mentions Peachland Street: "It's outside of Deep Creek, but it's very close, and there's a bunch of shops and restaurants. Fin Sushi is a big one." Downtown offers dock-and-dine restaurants, including Harpoon Harry's, known for its seafood. Box chains, including Target, are over 9 miles west.Interstate 75 is just west
“Some people are surprised by it because we are a small town, but I’ve had some people ask me if we have Uber. Uber, Lyft we have it all,” Andrea Andreae says. Deep Creek is accessible via two north and south exits off I-75. Punta Gorda Airport is around 9 miles away, following the highway. Though primarily used for general aviation, it offers connecting flights to 50 airports through Allegiant Air. However, the most direct way to fly is through Southwest Florida International, 40 miles south. When care is needed, HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital is over 7 miles west.Buying potted flowers at the annual Hibiscus Festival
The annual Hibiscus Festival has been held downtown every May for the past 20 years. Gardeners set up booths at Gilchrist Park and sell flower varieties while live bands play on the main stage. A year-round farmers market also runs downtown every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. There's also live music happening at almost any bar on the weekends.
