Located across the 5th Street Bridge from downtown, North Hartsville is a residential neighborhood in Hartsville with acreage and traditional houses. Many locals are longtime residents of Hartsville or relocated to work in one of the industries that call the Pee Dee area home, such as the Sonoco packaging plant. “It’s great for people looking to live outside city limits and for bigger lots,” says Deborah Gandy, a broker and relocation specialist at Coldwell Banker with over 40 years of experience. The neighborhood receives a 2 out of 10 on the Cap Index crime score, compared to the national average of 4.

Various housing styles with larger lots

North Hartsville features several housing styles and sizes. Investment properties in need of work can cost less than $100,000. Ranch-style and shotgun homes can range from $130,000 to $250,000. Larger, traditional houses, like Craftsman and Cape Cods, typically cost between $300,000 and $450,000. “Homes are on larger lots,” Gandy says. “They can go from half an acre to as big as 4 acres.” Older, narrow residential streets run off the main roads with limited room for street parking. Shrubs and clusters of bushy trees fill the area with greenery.
