Shrubs and clusters of bushy trees fill the area with greenery.

North Hartsville hosts various events throughout the year, including a book fair and an Eagle Day spirit competition. The next stop is Hartsville Middle School, receiving a B-minus from Niche. Hartsville Middle offers elective courses like computer science and digital learning labs. Hartsville High School earns a B from Niche and is known for its athletic program. Hartsville High has won regional and state championships in several sports, including wrestling and football. Hartsville is also home to the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, a boarding school for high school upperclassmen. Residents need to head south into Hartsville for retail and restaurant options. Black Creek Bistro is a higher-end, white tablecloth restaurant known for its wine and risotto. Sophia’s Pizzeria offers a more casual dining experience, serving pizza, calzones and stromboli. Sophia’s salad bar also gets high marks. Crema Coffee Bar – a downtown coffee shop offering drinks and sandwiches – is a popular hangout for university students. “We have a great selection of locally owned businesses and all the fast foods you could want,” Gandy says. IGA Food Center is the grocery store in the neighborhood, while Piggly Wiggly and Food Lion are a couple of miles away in Hartsville. Retail options like Walmart and Hartsville Mall Shopping Center are also in Hartsville.

Spending time on the water at Lake Robinson
Outdoor recreation is a prominent part of life in Hartsville. Easterling Landing sits about 8 miles away along Lake Robinson. The RV-friendly campground is a place to get out of town and enjoy the outdoors. “People love [water] skiing, sailing and spending time at Lake Robinson,” Gandy says. “They love to live on the water.” Closer to home, the Hartsville Country Club is a multisport facility and event venue. Golfers appreciate the 18-hole course, pro shop and lessons for players at all skill levels. The club also has a pool, tennis and pickleball courts. Antioch Recreation Center is a bull riding and rodeo venue a few miles north of the neighborhood.
Lake Robinson is a local favorite for boating and camping by the water for residents of North Hartsville.

Across the bridge from Downtown Hartsville
North Hartsville residents will need a car, as there is limited walkability and no public transportation. The neighborhood sits about one and a half miles from Downtown Hartsville, just across the 5th Street Bridge. Hartsville Medical Associates is the nearest hospital, around 2 miles away. Hartsville Regional Airport is three and a half miles north on Lakeview Boulevard. Darlington is around 17 miles away, while Florence is a 28-mile drive.
