Oak Grove-Pisgah is a rural community near the Alabama/Tennessee border. This unincorporated community is part of the larger Limestone County, which includes other nearby towns like Athens and Elkmont. The Cherokee and Chickasaw tribes inhabited the area before being forcibly removed as part of the Cherokee Land Cession in 1806. The county was established in 1818, with the area where Oak Grove-Pisgah now sits being primarily used for agriculture. After the Civil War, Limestone County saw a major population boom fueled by reconstruction. Today, Oak Grove-Pisgah still retains its agricultural roots while recently expanding the number of homes available.

New neighborhood construction is still ongoing, with these new homes congregated into traditional suburban layouts with gridded streets. Southern Gayles Golf Club and more recreation in Athens
Southern Gayles Golf Club & Grill is a full 18-hole course with training classes for every experience level, a pro shop and an on-site restaurant. Just south in the nearby city of Athens, the Athens Sports Complex is a large outdoor attraction. The sports complex offers a public pool, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, soccer fields, sand volleyball courts and a large playground. Directly next to the complex is the Athens Recreation Center with indoor basketball courts and meeting rooms. Swan Creek Park is a large municipal park in Athens with several miles of hiking trails through dense forests along Swan Creek.
