Rural landscapes with single-family homes in Bradford Greens
Single-family homes stand amidst a rural landscape in Bradford Greens in northern Massachusetts. The neighborhood sits less than 10 miles from the New Hampshire state line and is characterized by dense pockets of woods and the watery expanse of Chadwick Pond, part of an array of recreational spots for locals. “It’s more of a rural area and doesn’t have the big-city vibe,” says Vivien Marcus, a Realtor and broker associate with Keller Williams Realty who lives in the area. “There are trees and a lot of wildlife around, and the area attracts a lot of people that want to live in more rural areas.”
Locals are also within driving distance of both Haverhill and Andover, but the proximity to the larger towns is a perk of, rather than an influence on, the quiet surroundings of Bradford Greens. The few interlocking residential streets within the neighborhood sit on the north side, and homes often back up to trees while having some space between adjoining properties. “If you’re looking for a quiet, residential area to raise your kid and allow your kids to play outside, that’s the main draw of Bradford Greens,” says Jefri Liriano, the principal broker and owner of Liriano Realty. “People look in Bradford because those streets have very low transit and many of the homes are owner-occupied.”
Rural living with large lots in Bradford Greens
Bradford Greens is mostly comprised of single-family homes on sizable parcels of land. “It’s mostly residential and pretty rural, so you have houses with larger lots that are spaced further apart,” Marcus says. “All of Haverhill is mostly colonial-style homes, antiques and Cape-style homes.” Many of the homes in the area date to the mid-20th century, but occasional properties are newer constructions or older homes dating to the 1700s or 1800s. Colonial- and ranch-style homes are common, and prices typically fall between $600,000 and $800,000. “It is usually high $600,000s or low $700,000s for some of the older areas,” Liriano says. “Newer areas are usually in the $700,000s. The value of properties holds very well.” The neighborhood does not yet have a CAP Index Crime Score.

Chadwick Pond is the largest landmark in the Bradford Greens neighborhood. Spanning more than 175 acres, the water is open to anglers, canoers, kayakers andelectric boats, though swimming is prohibited, as are gas-powered motors. “There’s a lot to do,” Marcus says. “There are a couple of city-owned parks and two golf courses. There’s a ski area for wintertime fun that just celebrated its 75th anniversary.” The Bradford Country Club and Far Corner Golf flank the neighborhood to the north and south, respectively, and are both open to the public. Ski Bradford is open seasonally and has multiple trails for skiing and snowboarding.
The nearby Johnsons Pond has a boat launch and accommodates the same recreational activities as its larger neighbor, with the same restrictions. Bailey Reservation and the Wheeler Woods Conservation Area both offer hiking trails within Bradford Greens. More waterfront recreation awaits a few miles north of the neighborhood along the banks of the Merrimack River. “Everybody’s always jumping in the Merrimack and taking boats out,” Liriano says. “There are also trails that run right by the water. A lot of people do trails like the Bradford Rail Trail, and that runs side-to-side, from the east to the west side.”
