Life is sweet in Frazier Marsh

Deep into the southern outskirts of Greensboro, where the strawberries are fresh and the goats are abundant, is a peaceful countryside community. Frazier Marsh is a seamless blend of rolling farmlands and serene waters, bordered by the branching creeks of Randleman Lake. “It’s an area not too far or too close to the excitement of nearby towns and cities,” says Claudia Valencia, a Realtor with Magnolia Tree Realty. With white picket fences parallel to the winding backroads, Frazier Marsh is a picturesque community with the traditional elements of a rural town.

Privacy and serenity at home

Many people move to Frazier Marsh for land and seclusion from neighbors. Properties typically feature heavily wooded acreage, with homes built during the second half of the 20th century. Off Groometown Road, there are ranch styles and small bungalows of about 1,000 square feet priced between $150,000 and $300,000. Other options include larger, stately homes with price tags ranging from $600,000 to $800,000. Many of these houses are hidden behind dense forests, often in complete isolation. “Frazier Marsh is a very rural area where you don’t see the same type of house from door to door,” says Valencia. “Every single home was designed for the person that wanted to live there to begin with, which led to a lot of variety in the area.”

Berry-picking and pie-eating

Frazier Marsh’s countryside setting surrounds residents with acres of farmlands, some of which are open to the public. Ingram’s Family Farm has operated since the mid-19th century, yet didn’t start crop planting until 1980. Today, Ingram is known for strawberries, where guests can bring a bucket and do their own berry picking. Many also enjoy Ingram’s Dessert Barn, where they can purchase fresh baked goods, including cobblers, pies, fruit preserves and ice cream. While there, visitors can stop by the animal barn and peek at pigs, chickens and goats or check out the honeybees. After picking fresh strawberries at the farm, locals can check off the rest of their grocery list in Jamestown, where they’ll find the nearest Food Lion. While there, they can stroll through Jamestown’s historic downtown and make a reservation at one of the many restaurants. Black Powder Smokehouse is a local favorite, known for artisan meats and friendly service. For cocktails and late-night fun, The Deck is open until 2 a.m. and frequently offers live music.
