Parma
Suburban Neighborhood in Hilton, New York
Monroe County 14468, 14559
Local eateries line backroads and historic churches fill Hilton
Rural routes dominate much of Parma, where farm stands and antique stores are common. Local eateries are scattered throughout the backroads, including Abe’s on the south end along state Route 104. This classic American diner serves burgers and sandwiches in a log cabin. On the east side of town, Kelly’s Farm Market & Bakery is open from Labor Day through December. “You can watch cider being made and smell the freshly baked pies and turnovers,” Avery says. “People come from neighboring towns to buy from Pettinari’s, too,” he adds, referring to the popular deli and pizzeria on Parma's west side. North of Parma Town Park, the proprietors of Mamaste have created a mom-friendly environment where customers can order lattes and sandwiches while children up to 5 years old can enjoy a dedicated play area. The countryside provides a suitable landscape for wineries, with Mayers Lake Ontario Winery & Cidery and Blue Barn Cidery representing two oft-visited options. The Village of Hilton, centrally located in Parma, offers more shopping and dining options. In addition to eateries and a Tops Supermarket, this town center area is home to several historic churches. The cornerstone of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church was laid in 1882, and the village itself was named after Reverend Hilton of Hilton’s Freewill Baptist Church in 1896. The Hilton United Methodist Church burned down in 1965, leaving behind only the stained-glass windows that are featured in the new building today.
Parma features Colonial-style homes and lakefront estates
More than 95% of Parma is residential, and more than 90% of residents own their homes. Buyers can find a variety of 1,500- to 2,500-square-foot ranch-styles, Colonial-styles and contemporary styles, some built as recently as 2025. Common features include two-car garages, stone chimneys and foundations, large bay windows and spacious lot sizes. Single-family properties typically sit on a quarter-acre to multiple acres, and prices generally range from $350,000 to $550,000. There are also lakefront traditional and Victorian-style estate-like properties in north Parma that offer around 5,000 square feet of space for about $1.5 million to $1.8 million.Parma Town Park and other green spaces provide recreation
Located off state Route 259, Parma Town Park features a playground and a skate park. There are also athletic fields where youth leagues play, as well as basketball courts and a paved walking trail that passes by a fishing pond. The Bark Yard is a new off-leash dog park with play equipment. Members pay a $25 annual fee. Parma Town Park hosts the annual Clams and Bands, a free summer kick-off event complete with a clambake and other grill favorites, live music, adult beverages and an ice cream truck. The Village of Hilton also draws a crowd twice annually, once in the summer for the Fire Department Carnival and again in the fall for Apple Fest.In north Parma, Salmon Creek Nature Preserve covers 29 acres of grasslands, wetlands and woodlands, and is a popular spot for birdwatching and fishing. The preserve has 2.5 miles of hiking trails and an accessible observation deck. On the west side of town, the Deerfield Golf & Country Club was built on more than 350 acres. The 27-hole golf course is open to the public and was the 2024 winner of the Democrat & Chronicle’s Best of Rochester’s award. To the east, along the Braddock Bay of Lake Ontario, Manitou Beach Marina offers 100 floating dock slips and a boat ramp.
Commuters can access state Route 104 to reach Rochester
While the Regional Transit Service bus has routes through Parma, the area is car-dependent. State Route 259, the town's main artery that runs north-to-south, connects commuters to other highways like state Route 104, which brings them to downtown Rochester. Just outside of downtown, Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport is about 15 miles from Parma.Hilton Central public schools offer STEM programs for all ages

The high school’s sports teams and student-led clubs are locally well-known and highly regarded, and include football, marching band and robotics.
