Suburban Neighborhood in Hobart, Indiana
Lake County 46342, 46410
Largely separated from city life and amenities, Ainsworth is a widely spread out neighborhood nestled among green space, forested land and mossy marshes and ponds. With the nearest grocery store about 6 miles from Ainsworth, and no restaurants within its borders, locals enjoy a quiet small-town atmosphere. A few clusters of residential streets can be found throughout the neighborhood, with the largest lying just within its northern boundaries. Houses in this area are largely multistory modern- and transitional-style homes, with some duplexes surrounding a small fishing pond on Avocet Circle. Split-level homes and ranchers can also be found throughout Ainsworth, with secluded homes on large wooded lots being found off of side streets like East Miller Lane.
Veterans Memorial Park, home of the neighborhood’s Vietnam War Veterans memorial, is also a place for locals to enjoy its open fields, playground and gazebos on a sunny day. Wood Elementary School is located just across the street from the park, serving students from kindergarten through fourth grade.
Ainsworth school teachers and parents alike are in close proximity to the Sharp School Services educational supply store. Here, educators can purchase workbooks, learning materials and classroom furniture, while parents can stock up on school supplies for young learners.
Ainsworth Residents have access to two golf courses to enjoy during the warmer months. Indian Ridge Golf Course features an 18-hole course and a covered picnic pavilion, while the larger of the courses at River Pointe Country Club provides 27 holes that can be mixed and matched for a variety of courses as well as a bar and grill space that can be enjoyed during the on season.
Outdoor space and natural serenity are some of the great appeals relished by residents of Ainsworth. Deep River County Park’s expansive wooded area surrounds the Deep River as it flows through Ainsworth, and just south of these woods, locals can relax at Big Maple Lake and the adjacent pond that is located just to the west of the lake. Here, one can have a lunch on one of the area’s picnic tables, or fish from the lake’s shore. The area surrounding the lake is often used for dog walking.
For the horse owner or lesson seeker, Excelsior Equestrian Center provides locals with horseback riding lessons, trainings and boarding services. Additionally, a mile to the north, locals can visit Shilo Ranch for private and group trail rides, lessons and birthday parties or other celebrations.
While amenities are sparse within the neighborhood’s boundaries, there is always a plethora of natural attractions and beautiful landscapes in Ainsworth.
