Hobart neighborhood surrounded by forests
Thousands of Douglas firs and ponderosa trees create a thick tapestry of forest in Landsburg, a rural neighborhood of Hobart. Roughly 29 miles southeast of Seattle, the community is dotted with natural areas that sit along the Cedar River. “You’re backed up against the Cascade mountains, so you have this amazing rural feel to the community. It’s the perfect combination that everyone in the Pacific Northwest likes to see,” says Carol Fisher, managing broker for the Fisher Home Team with Re/Max Integrity, who has almost 20 years of experience.

Natural areas and recreation along Cedar River
The Cedar River flows through Landsburg, creating ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. Landsburg Park is an open green space with a grassy field, picnic tables and trees for hammocking, with access to the river for kayaking and rafting on the river rapids. “People like to float along the river and watch the salmon,” Fisher says. The Cedar River Trail travels throughout Maple Valley and King County and is open to hikers, bikers and horseback riders. Multiple other natural areas are dotted along the river, all connected by the Cedar River Trail. Landsburg Reach Natural Area is a 24-acre preserve consisting of wetlands, bluffs and mixed forest. Across the river, Big Bend Natural Area Park is 96 acres. Farther west, the Danville-Georgetown Open Space takes up 340 acres and is known for its extensive woodland trail system through thick Douglas Firs, which lead to the Putnam Loop, Ridge Loop, Lone Wolf Trail and 3 Elk Trail. “The hiking throughout the area is phenomenal. You have everything from level trails along the water, to pretty steep mountain trails.” Fisher says.
Ravensdale Park is less than a mile south of the neighborhood and has a playground area, four soccer fields and multiple baseball fields. Additionally, Cascade Shooting Facilities sits east of Landsburg Park and has both indoor and outdoor archery and shooting ranges. Community programs include public shoot days and hunting education classes.

Single-family homes sitting on large lots
While most of Landsburg’s landscape is forestry, homes are located in a small neighborhood pocket on the south side, lined along a residential country road. Lot sizes are large – most properties have acres of farmland with space between neighbors. “It’s a beautiful mix of properties. There’s a nice selection of high-end estates and family farms,” Fisher says. New traditional, multi-story homes built in the 1980s and 1990s are common. These properties span 2,000 to 4,400 square feet and range in price from $850,000 to $1.4 million. There are also a handful of raised ranches, with balconies, from the 1950s and 1970s, priced around $660,000 to $800,000.
Modern farmhouses with bright colors and front porches are another common housing type in the area. Some of the farmhouses also have Colonial-inspired architecture, such as brick siding and symmetrical windows. These farmhouses were built in the 2000s and span 1,500 to 4,200 square feet. Prices range between $950,000 and $1.8 million, depending on size and architectural design. The CAP Index crime score in Landsburg is a 1 out of 10, which is lower compared to the national average of 4.
