Holland’s luxury living and working-class roots combine
Westside forms the southwest corner of Holland, where lakeside mansions and starter homes sit side by side. The neighborhood might be best known for its sprawling summer homes, but anything off the water typically comes with a much lower price tag. Plus, with its larger yards, winding roads and fewer sidewalks, Westside tends to be a bit quieter than the city center. “Holland has people from every kind of profession, from blue collar to the highest of white collar, all forming one small-town community — and you can see that in Westside,” says Tantzi Habsburg, an associate broker with Re/Max Lakeshore and a Holland native.
The Westside neighborhood offers affordable housing options away from the lake.

From lakeside mansions to modest condos
Westside offers the full spectrum of Holland home prices. “There’s certainly a luxury market, but you can also find more modest condos on that side of the city,” says Doug Klaasen, a Realtor with Keller Williams who has over 27 years of experience in the area. Condos start at $225,000, and single-family homes typically sell from $300,000 to $400,000. However, luxury waterfront properties with private docks can range from $1 million to $5 million. Some houses along the lake or creek have a slight risk of flooding. Westside has several distinct neighborhoods, including Cobblestone, a master-planned development with townhome options, and Central Park, a tight-knit waterside community just off South Shore Drive. “South Shore Drive is mega upscale — the DeVos and Van Andel families live there,” Habsburg says.

Although Holland is known as a waterside community, Westside residents without a private dock are over a mile from the nearest public lake access. Two miles north, Kollen Park has a boat launch and boardwalk that connects to the city. “There’s a strong boating community in Holland,” Klaasen says. “If you don’t have a personal dock, there are also a number of marinas for boat storage.”
