Fort Bend Houston

Fort Bend Houston

Once a rural community rooted in railroad and oil companies, Fort Bend Houston has now become a flourishing suburban area that continues to develop both commercially and residentially. This new growth brings new residents and a new outlook for the future of the community.

Split into northern and southern halves by Farm-to-Market Road, Fort Bend Houston maintains a healthy balance of its manufacturing and residential sides, with each being a benefit to the other. To the south, you have the manufacturing corridor filled with organizations like Cherry Companies, specializing in crushed concrete and stabilized materials, and Troy Companies, with expertise in pipeline construction. To the north, you’ll find your residential neighborhoods filled with classic, cozy homes, with some newer ones popping up.

Traditional, contemporary and ranch-style homes can be found throughout the neighborhood displaying various façades like brick, stone and vinyl siding, along with select combinations using the three. One- and two-car attached garages accompany the homes, flanked by spacious driveways and surrounded by large yards dotted with trees. New builds are also coming to the area, offering a wider range of options for potential homebuyers. Prices can range from the high $100,000s to the mid-$300,000s, with new builds sticking around the low $300,000s.

The academic journey is an important one for every student. As a part of the Fort Bend Independent School District, students can follow a path that takes them through Rosa Parks Elementary School, Lake Olympia Middle School and Hightower High School. In the student’s early years, Rosa Parks focuses on critical thinking to create lifelong learners. Academic achievement and self-empowerment are the goals at Lake Olympia. Considered the most innovative of Fort Bend ISD’s high schools, Hightower has established academies, including the Medical Science Academy and the Digital Media Academy, that encourage its gifted students to go above and beyond. All three schools are B-rated on Niche.

Kids can make a splash at Blueridge Park, with its colorful splash pad and sprayground to cool off from the hot Houston heat. The park also has play areas, a 1.1-mile looped walking trail and a pond where you’ll find a lot of wild birdlife frolicking in and around the park’s pond.

Pop into the local Dollar General for groceries and snacks to pack your pantry and fill your freezer. Let the good times roll at Danny’s Crawfish & Seafood, where New Orleans-inspired cuisine is front and center in dishes and desserts like their spicy crawfish boil and mini beignets. Or you can find your flavor at Flava Wings, an all-you-can-imagine restaurant featuring a variety of creative wing flavors like bourbon black pepper and spicy Korean.
