Hidden Valley offers convenience to downtown Houston without the noise
Hidden Valley was established as an official Houston neighborhood in 1955 and has since cemented itself as a popular landing spot for those seeking both affordability and convenience to the city. Hidden Valley is easy to point out on a map thanks to its pizza slice appearance formed by the converging of Interstate 45 and Veterans Memorial Drive on its southside. Primarily a residential tract with some commercial and industrial spaces lining its east side along I-45, Hidden Valley sits just 10 miles north of downtown and sits in the heart of Harris County, which, as noted by local Realtor Cesar Martinez of BlueRoof Real Estate, is bigger than the entire state of Rhode Island.
Hidden Valley has a mix of residential and retail within it which encourages small businesses.
Westmount Emporium is the primary shopping center for the needs of Hidden Valley residents.

Ranch-style homes are king in Hidden Valley
Hidden Valley mainly contains established ranch-style homes along its tree-shaded streets. Many residences feature hipped roofs and brick facades, while other renovated properties offer a more contemporary aesthetic. Most homes in Hidden Valley price between $200,000 and $300,000, though some smaller properties may sell for around $150,000. Given its proximity to downtown, along with Houston's continued growth, homes in Hidden Valley can sell fairly quickly. "If your house is still on the market after two weeks, then you have to adjust something," says local Realtor Ariel Villarreal of Coldwell Banker Realty, who is a native Houstonian and sells homes throughout the area. "The Houston market's pretty hot right now. It's always hot."
Smaller ranch style homes are common throughout the Hidden Valley neighborhood.

Hidden Valley is walkable with solid highway access
With sidewalk-lined streets throughout much of the neighborhood, Hidden Valley is walkable, though many residents prefer to get around by car. Offering quick access to Interstate 45, Hidden Valley is only about a 15-minute drive from downtown without traffic. But in Houston, clear highways aren't exactly the norm. Public transportation options are limited, but Veterans Memorial Drive does feature several METRO bus stops.

Burns Original BBQ is one of the best barbecue spots in Houston
Fiesta off Mount Houston Road on the northside is a top spot for grocery runs, while big-box retailers from Ross to Marshalls can be found at West Road Plaza along Interstate 45. National chain restaurants are adjacent to Fiesta, but locally owned eateries have become staples in the community. Meanwhile, Swamp City on Little York Road is a favorite for Cajun-style seafood.

I've lived in Hidden Valley for 16 years and it's a great place for a family. Neighbors are respectful and friendly. There is little to no crime and always a great place to go for a walk or run. I loved living here all these years and hope to continue to for years to come.

Most families that live in this area have lived in this neighborhood around the same time as I have, 16 years, or even longer. It is not a bad neighborhood, there are very little occasions where we get new neighbors because nobody moves out.

I've grown up in this neighborhood and seen it's many changes through the years. Recently, crime has increased in the are and in the city of Houston in general. Through this, I know that all Hidden Valley residents, no matter their race, beliefs, or anything else, all strive for the same thing: a compassionate and helpful community.
