While there aren’t any public playgrounds in the neighborhood – the Villages of Langham Creek has a park with a playground that is reserved for residents’ use – the larger area beyond the neighborhood’s boundaries offer plenty of recreational opportunities. “The area has a lot of things for kids to do, and lots of organized children’s sports, like baseball and soccer,” O’Brien says. Bear Creek Pioneers Park is about a 10-minute drive from the neighborhood. This expansive natural area is a hotspot for all kinds of outdoor recreation, with its Little League fields, soccer fields and hiking trails that wind through wooded meadows. Congressman Bill Archer Dog Park is one of the largest dog parks in Houston, complete with oodles of space to frolic, two agility courses and a pond for dogs to jump into – a welcome respite when summer temperatures exceed 100 degrees. Langham Creek sits about 23 miles from downtown Houston. “It’s located between Interstate 10 and U.S. Route 290, two of the main commuting roads that lead into Houston,” says Sandra Holcomb, a Realtor at CB&A Realtors who specializes in western Houston. Emergency care is just a mile away at HCA Houston ER – Copperfield. Residents are about 30 miles from Houston’s two major flying hubs, George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P.
