A diverse suburb south of downtown Houston
Large pecan trees grace the streets of Park Place and transport residents back to the 1920s when the neighborhood was once a free city-state. Park Place voluntarily merged into the City of Houston in the late 1920s, which lifted deed restrictions and led the area to grow. As the community expands, modest homes, apartments and small businesses have found a home on the main cross streets. This neighborhood has attracted people in recent decades due to its convenient closeness to the Port of Houston and William P. Hobby Airport. Blending a mix of Mexican and Vietnamese cultures, local taquerias and Vietnamese fare make up most of the cuisine options in Park Place, along Broadway Street. “People are always near a ton of dining options, including coffee shops and breweries,” says Loren Miner, a Principal for Eastwood Commercial Realty who has been selling homes in the area for six years. Residents also have a large green space at their fingertips, the Houston Botanic Garden.
Visitors to the Houston Botanical Garden enjoy the serene views.

Great place to find established restaurants such as Del Sol and the Taqueria Michoacana. There are many places to get a dessert such as ice cream or popsicles, or mangonadas. The area is not very safe since it is close to the highway where homeless people live and occasionally harass the drivers passing by. There are mostly Hispanic people with families. However, with the construction of a botanical garden, I hope that the area will get more attention from the city for public improvements.
