Small-town living close to major cities
Hubbard stays true to its motto as a small-town neighborhood "where opportunity begins." After Youngstown's steel industry collapsed in the mid-1900s, Hubbard's local shops and family-owned restaurants kept the local economy from plummeting. Today, the neighborhood's charming downtown district is busy with old and new small businesses. While Hubbard may have all the necessities, local highways connect residents to the busy streets of Downtown Youngstown in about 15 minutes.
Popular pizza shops in downtown Hubbard
With over eight pizza shops, "Hubbard is like the town of pizza," says local librarian and long-time resident of the area Beth Krlich. One of the most popular pizza shops, Hubbard Pizza Works, is on North Main Street and has been serving award-winning pizzas for the last 40 years. Next door, Shop 'n Save is the local grocery store with deals on pantry staples and other essentials. Residents can drive across the railroad tracks on Main Street to eat a traditional homestyle breakfast in an old-school train car at Rhonda's Emerald Diner. On warm summer days, kids run to Webb's Ice Cream on West Liberty Street for a scoop of homemade ice cream.

Seasonal farmers markets and shop small events
Shop Hubbard Ohio is a community organization that works to advance the local economy by hosting seasonal farmers markets and semi-annual events that encourage residents to shop small. The Shop Small Spring Fling and Fall for Shop Small semi-annual events draw hundreds of people to the local stores and pop-up vendors in Hubbard's charming downtown area. From July through September, residents can find fresh produce and other locally-made goods every Saturday at the Hubbard Ohio Farmers' Market on West Liberty Street.
Historic American Foursquares and multi-acre estates
Minimal traditional and ranch-style homes were built in the 1950s and 1960s on downtown Hubbard's residential streets. Some American Foursquares from the early 1900s have long paved driveways leading to detached garages hidden behind the two-story homes. Most homes feature built-in wooden decks and open yards, making it easy for residents to host backyard cookouts with neighbors. In the more rural parts of Hubbard, ranch-style homes sit on multi-acre wooded lots with private ponds and horse stables. While most homes in this small-town neighborhood list between $100,000 and $200,000, some of these larger estates can cost upwards of $450,000.

Hubbard sits halfway between Pittsburgh and Cleveland
While residents have all the everyday necessities, Krlich says, "Hubbard is close to the bigger cities nearby, and you're halfway between Pittsburgh and Cleveland, too." Locals can follow Highway 62 from West Liberty Street to access St. Elizabeth Hospital and Downtown Youngstown in about 15 minutes. Hubbard Road flows through North Main Street and connects to Interstate 80, which residents take to get to the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in 20 minutes or less.
