Serene living west of Huntsville

A slice of greenery west of downtown Huntsville in the suburb of Madison, Lake Forest is a community known for its excellent amenities and close proximity to shopping and major employers. Known as “The Rocket City” for being the home of the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville has developed a reputation for its high quality of living, its diverse economy and low cost of living. In 2022, the city was named as the best place to live in America in 2022 by US News & World Report. Built on old farmland, Lake Forest was developed into 11 subdivisions starting in the 2000s and sits on 700 acres with each community having its own distinct flare. It is close to the Huntsville International Airport and Redstone Arsenal, which attracts many military families and retirees to the neighborhood, in addition to Toyota Field, the home of the AA Huntsville Trash Pandas baseball team that has attracted downtown business. “I would it’s especially a big draw now because they’ve added so much to that part of town,” says DeLisa Locke, a real estate agent with RE/MAX Alliance.

Town Madison corridor

Shopping in Lake Forest is anchored by Town Madison with a mix of local and national brands in four different shopping districts like Taco Mama, where visitors can enjoy classic tacos and burritos of all forms. Town Madison is also home to Toyota Field, where 7,500 people can take in America’s pastime. At Mangia Italian Restaurant get homemade bowls of pasta and more. The Huntsville Museum of Art has nearly 3,000 pieces in its collection of American and world art.

From townhouses to lakeside estates

Developed by Breland Homes, Lake Forest has a mix of home styles with each community presenting its own take on serene living centered around the lake bearing its name. Homes can range from $345,000 to well over $1 million with townhouses, mid-size craftsman and million dollar lakeside Colonial Revivals all within the area. In Lake Forest, residents have access to perks with swimming pools, tennis courts and a clubhouse all available. Large estates wrap around a stunning lake and are surrounded by a thick forest of mature trees. Located off Martin Road, The Waters subdivision is made up of townhouses with built-in garages. Residents here also enjoy the serenity of living amid woodland preserves and having access to a neighborhood dog park where canine companions can run and play. While every home in The Waters is identical, Williams Pointe's Craftsman cottages boast slight variations in coloring, size and other features.

Trails and reels in Huntsville

Outside of the vast greenery within Lake Forest, residents can venture nearby to Dallas W. Fanning Nature Preserve where 1.5 miles of trails and open greenspace awaits. The forested trails are a tree-lined canopy with numerous species of birds and fauna. Betts Spring Branch is a tributary of the Tennessee River where local anglers can catch largemouth bass and bluegill. Sunset Landing Golf Course has more than 6,800 yards of challenging fairways and greens for those who like to hit the links.

Huntsville City Schools

Students in Lake Forest attend Huntsville City School. The Williams Family donated land to Huntsville City Schools to construct Williams Elementary School in 1990, with Williams Middle School following suit in 2009. Both schools are within walking distance of most homes in the neighborhood and are rated B-minus and B on Niche. Students finish off at Columbia High School, rated C.

Commutes by land and sky with I-565

Lake Forest sits 14 miles west of downtown Huntsville and with I-565 only minutes away for quick and easy commutes. To take to the air, Huntsville International Airport is only five miles away.
