Monte Sano
Monte Sano State Park has over 20 miles of hiking trails
There's always something new to discover at Monte Sano State Park. Residents can hunt for hidden waterfalls along over 20 miles of hiking trails or whizz through the trees on one of the mountain bike paths. In the springtime, blush pink azaleas and deep red maple trees surround the wooden torii archways of the Japanese garden. Bree's Spring is the perfect spot for hikers to cool off and sip on some fresh spring water on those hot summer days. For breathtaking downtown views and a glimpse back in time, Burritt on the Mountain's Living History Museum is a must-see destination.New traditional Adirondacks with bluff views
Most homes sit along wide residential streets at the top of Monte Sano Mountain, just west of the state park entrance. These houses date back to the 1950s and '60s, with most reflecting prairie and ranch-style architecture. Neutral brick and wooden exteriors blend smoothly with the surrounding foliage, so much so that many homes are entirely hidden from the street. Some new traditional Adirondacks with A-frame roofs and stone foundations feature expansive back decks overlooking the northern bluffs. Residential development along the south border of Monte Sano began in the 1990s and continues today. Older new traditionals are arranged in cul-de-sacs and new contemporary craftsman homes sit on half acre lots. Any listing in Monte Sano typically ranges between $400,000 and $700,000. Still, some homes with beautiful bluff views can cost just over $1 million.
Monte Sano Arts Festival celebrates local artists
Monte Sano State Park's peaceful forests come to life each fall for the Monte Sano Arts Festival. Along with one-of-a-kind pieces to purchase, attendees can grab a bite from one of the food trucks or stop by the amphitheater to watch different bands play.Groceries and other amenities just down the mountain
Monte Sano is free of commercial amenities besides The Little Green Store, but Downtown Huntsville is just a few miles down the mountain. Locals find groceries and everyday essentials at the Publix in Twickenham Square. There are a few favorite local restaurants around here, like Taco Mama and Cajun Steamer Bar & Grill. Still, most shopping and dining is found less than a half mile up the road in the downtown district.Huntsville High is a certified Purple Star School
Monte Sano is zoned for Huntsville City Schools. Monte Sano Elementary scores an A-minus on Niche, Huntsville Junior High receives a B-plus, and Huntsville High School gets a solid A. Just a short drive from Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville High is a certified Purple Star School with several programs designed to help military students adjust to their new school.Monte Sano Boulevard connects to US Route 431
