Growing suburb just a short drive from Downtown Huntsville
Past Downtown Huntsville’s booming entertainment district, Ryland is settled in the heart of the Tennessee Valley along the Flint River. The area remains known for its flourishing agricultural land, but over the last 20 years, the community has seen some major changes. With Huntsville’s steady population growth, Ryland is quickly becoming a quiet suburban neighborhood with new residential and commercial developments. Despite this recent identity shift, Ryland’s all-encompassing greenery and small-town restaurants help maintain its rural feel.
I-565 loops around the Huntsville metro area and connects to I-65 which runs north and south.

New construction homes with spacious lawns
Over the last 20 years, Huntsville’s ever-growing population has transformed most of Ryland’s rural flat farmlands into modern subdivisions filled with spacious single-family homes. Many residences reflect a new traditional style with sturdy brick exteriors and cross-gable roofs. These newer homes are managed by involved homeowners associations, ensuring sidewalks are kept clean and yards are well-maintained. Throughout the area, some older cape cods and ranch-style homes sit outside planned subdivisions and date back to the 1980s and 90s. Ryland residents enjoy spacious half-acre yards with plenty of room to add an in-ground pool and build a backyard playset. While similar homes in the neighboring Monte Sano community list around $500,000, Ryland’s three-to-four-bedroom homes typically cost between $250,000 and $400,000. Still, some new construction developments can list up to $500,000.
Newer construction homes in Ryland are mid price ranged and typically mid sized.
