Located directly east of the neighborhood, Sand Hollow State Park is the local treasure and namesake of the area. Its red sandstone cliffs surround the Sand Hollow Reservoir for scenic vistas. Many visitors cliff jump from the rocks and then swim in the reservoir. “There are ATV rentals, boat rentals and vacation rentals to stay in. The Ironman event there every May is a swim followed by a bike ride and a run, which sounds like a great day at Sand Hollow,” Allen says. The park also has sand dune hiking and bass fishing. The HOA, which applies to the Villas at Sand Hollow and TAVA Resort subdivisions, allows for access to Sand Hollow Golf Club. It has a public 18-hole golf course with panoramic views of Zion National Park, a 9-hole Links Course and a clubhouse. Only 30 miles northeast, Zion covers nearly 150,000 acres of land internationally renowned for camping, climbing and hiking through slot canyons next to the Virgin River.Washington County School District
Three Falls School serves kindergarten through fifth grade and has a B rating on Niche. With sixth through seventh grade, Hurricane Intermediate School earns a B. Hurricane Middle School serves eighth through ninth grade and has a B-minus. A mostly residential area, Sand Hollow Resort consists of subdivisions and cul-de-sacs of townhouses and single-family homes. Subdivisions with the HOA include Villas at Sand Hollow and TAVA Resort. The homes have compact yards often decorated with agave plants and palm trees. Widely developed after 2000 through now, the neighborhood only has contemporary architecture. Many of the residences have views of red rocks and the Pine Mountains. Contemporary homes range from $650,000 to $900,000, while contemporary townhouses range from $800,000 to $1.1 million. Located in Sand Hollow Golf Club, the Grille at Sand Hollow Resort serves brunch and burgers. It features a wraparound porch with views of Zion National Park. Although there aren’t any retail centers in Sand Hollow Resort, it's only a 10-mile drive west to Cotton Mill Center, a large strip mall with plenty of shopping and more restaurants. Bishop's Grill serves classic diner food in a laidback, no-frills eatery. At Korea Picnic, there are lunch boxes and bulgogi in a colorful interior decorated with murals. The Rock Bowl, an ampitheater right in the community, has a summer concert series and a Hot Air Balloon Festival. St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm is a museum with exhibits of dinosaur footprints, in-progress excavations and fossils. “New to this area is a giant RV resort and waterpark called Jellystone Park,” Allen says. Sand Hollow Resort is a car-dependent community, as there's no public transit. It's located about 15 miles east of downtown St. George via state Route 7. For the nearest medical center, St. George Regional Hospital River Road is around 15 miles west of the neighborhood. Harry Reid International Airport, the closest international airport, is about 130 miles away in Las Vegas.
