Riverwalk
Contemporary homes with community amenities
Construction for homes in Riverwalk started in the mid-2000s and new builds continue to pop up. DR Horton Homes, Continental Homes and Centex Homes are just a few of the builders that created the area’s residences. Single-family homes are clustered along the sidewalk-lined roads, with styles ranging from contemporary Craftsman-style homes to houses with brick accents. Despite the blend of newly built properties and homes built in the early 2000s, house prices tend to stay consistent between $290,000 to $430,000.Commuting convenience with Highway 130
Riverwalk is less than a mile from the Texas 130 toll road, which leads straight to the central areas of Austin, about 25 miles away. There isn’t much public transportation in or around the neighborhood, so residents tend to drive to get where they need to be. Nearby, US-79 is not only used by residents to get downtown but also leads to neighboring Round Rock, which is about 9 miles out. The closest medical facility, St. David’s Emergency Center, is 4 miles away, accessible through FM 685. “It’s very convenient to get to any route in the North Austin area,” says Jarrod Weaver, a broker with X3 Realty. “The ability to get anywhere and everywhere from that spot is great.”Local eateries and proximity to Downtown Hutto
Many of the local restaurants in Hutto are around US-79, a main thoroughfare for the town. Elsie’s Egg Rolls is a family-owned local spot serving Filipino dishes and, of course, tasty eggrolls. Downtown Hutto is less than 2 miles away from Riverwalk and is home to an array of shops like the Hutto General Store that sells trinkets, treats and other gifts, and local eateries. “Hutto’s really revitalized its downtown area to make it a destination,” Oualline says. Part of that revitalization is The Co-Op District, a growing part of the town that will serve as a community gathering place and a center for shops and dining. Though H-E-B is about 2 miles from Riverwalk, residents can buy locally grown vegetables and fruits from the Silos Farmers Market in the Co-Op District that runs year-round.Hutto Lake Park came from the minds of elementary schoolers
Hutto Lake Park sits in the center of the neighborhood. Third and fourth graders of the nearby Ray Elementary School conceptualized its unique designs, and architects and engineers took their ideas and brought them to life. Local anglers can fish in Hutto Lake, which is catch-and-release. Adam Orgain Park, about 4 miles away, has pavilions overlooking the lake and Brushy Creek. The park is named after a former enslaved man who became the first settler in Hutto when he was sent to watch over his enslaver’s ranching and cattle interests. In 1865, Orgain was freed, and 15 years later, he bought five acres of land and built a home, officially becoming Hutto’s first resident. Canine companions have a place to play in Bushy Creek Dog Park, a private park that is free to join.Over 70 clubs at Hutto High School
Children in the area attend Howard Norman Elementary School, which received a B grade on Niche, followed by Gus Almquist Middle School. Teenagers attend Hutto High School, which has a B-plus overall Niche grade and a rigorous extracurricular activities program, with over 70 clubs and organizations available for students to join.
