Midcentury homes anchor diverse housing options in a wooded setting
The neighborhood is characterized by a wooded setting, where homes sit on spacious lots along quiet streets. Midcentury ranch-style homes are the most common, and there are plenty of split levels, too. Other options include contemporary homes in subdivision settings, Colonial Revival-style homes and large custom homes. A handful of communities within the neighborhood have HOAs. Foremost among them is Sycamore Springs. The gated community features large custom homes as well as condos. Monthly fees range from the mid-$100s to $600-plus. There are other HOA communities in the neighborhood as well, with monthly fees for homes and condos ranging from under $100 to more than $700.

Home prices typically range from the mid-$200,000s to around $900,000, although select homes can list for $1 million-plus. Condos typically range from the low $300,000s to $500,000-plus. The median sales price in the low $400,000s is higher than neighboring Castleton (mid-$200,000s) and Clearwater (low $300,000s), but slightly lower than neighboring Devonshire (low $400,000s). Homes in Allisonville sell quickly, 38 days on average. That’s nearly three weeks faster than the national average. A homeownership rate of nearly 70 percent speaks to the neighborhood’s stability and investment value. Property taxes are often higher in Washington Township compared to other areas of Marion County, especially for neighborhoods with higher-priced homes. However, the main difference is the costs associated with the township having its own school district.
