On the very edge of Greater Indianapolis, almost 10 miles from downtown, appeals to those looking for a relatively quiet Midwest lifestyle. “Home prices in Galludet are a little more economical,” says Susan Forrest, Realtor with United Real Estate Indianapolis. “The market is driving people here. There has been a lot of building going on here.” While new houses line the streets, Galludet still has open fields stretching for acres between its residential subsections.

Houses old and new on the same streets
Part of Franklin Township, the neighborhood features a mix of housing amidst a rural landscape. “You will find older homes on larger lots,” Forrest says. “You will see a mid-20th-century ranch-style home on one or two acres.” There are also several newer, traditional-style residences being constructed. Older and newer builds vary wildly in price, but generally, both styles under 3000 square feet sell from $200,000 to $400,000, while those above 3000 square feet range from $400,000 to $900,000. Most of houses rest along winding streets and cul-de-sacs with lush, manicured lawns sporting the occasional tree, well-kept concrete driveways and paved sidewalks.
