Ample shopping near classic homes on the north end of Jackson
At the crown of Jackson to the northwest of the city, Lansing Avenue Heights is a small residential neighborhood next to a large commercial district along the Interstate 94 corridor. While interstate motorists might pass by the concentration of big box stores and fast-food restaurants with little thought, locals delight in visiting the smaller local businesses that are there as well. "I'm a big sushi guy, and I've been all over to places like Las Vegas, but nothing's been better than the stuff I've had at AKA," says Tim Creech, an associate broker with Five Star Real Estate Leaders, says of AKA Sushi, a local favorite since its opening in 2008. The restaurant is just one of many businesses locals can reach within less than a mile, with the Jackson Crossing Mall area to the immediate west offering one of the city’s widest selections of mainstream shopping and dining.
