The city’s housing styles feature Craftsman and contemporary architecture. Many houses have log cabin features with midcentury windows for natural light and views of the valley mountains. The median single-family price is about $3 million. The highest-value properties are closer to the National Elk Refuge. “Communities on the outskirts are starting to boom because there’s a finite amount of real estate,” Houfek says. “Nearly 93% of the land is publicly owned by parks and the elk refuge, while a select few ranching families own the other 7%.”

Visit the elk, ski or hike Grand Teton
While there are parks in the city, the main attractions are the abundant outdoor excursions across Jackson Hole. The National Elk Refuge borders the city, providing a winter habitat for elk and bighorn sheep. Snow King Mountain is a ski resort overlooking the city, with a roller coaster and ziplining in the summer. The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is another skiing area with long runs and vast valley views. About 5 miles north, Grand Teton National Park is a 310,000-acre spectacle where residents can hike to alpine vistas, go for a scenic drive and raft on the lakes. One of the best educations in Wyoming
According to Niche, Teton County School District No.1 earns an A-minus grade, which also ranks it the fifth-best district in Wyoming. The district serves about 2,800 students across five elementary, two middle and two high schools. Mountain Academy of Teton Science Schools is a private K-8 option that earns an A-plus grade. “There are a lot of opportunities in the public system, and our private schools are excellent,” Houfek says.

Saloons and gift shops in Jackson's town square
The town square is a green space adorned by archways made from elk antlers. Western-style saloons, breweries and cafes provide plentiful dining options, while boutiques and gift shops make Jackson feel like a vacation town with a touch of local atmosphere. U.S. Route 189 is a highway leading to shopping centers and supermarkets like Whole Foods and Albertsons.
You can't go to Jackson and not stop in for a spell at the Cowboy Bar open 24 hours in downtown Jackson.

Exhibits at the National Museum of Wildlife Art
The National Museum of Wildlife Art has over 5,000 exhibits of paintings and sculptures. The museum features artists like Andy Warhol, with some pieces dating back over 4,000 years. The Old West Days Festival is a 10-day celebration of the town's Western heritage in May. ElkFest—an antler auction to support the National Elk Refuge and local Boy Scout troops—features a restaurant week.

Fly out of the Jackson Hole Airport
Southern Teton Area Rapid Transit (START) is the area’s bus system. The bus offers free rides in Jackson, while one-way trips to the surrounding towns cost less than $3. U.S. Route 191 is a highway through the valley reaching national parks, while Wyoming Route 22 leads to Idaho Falls, about 90 miles west. Residents also benefit from the Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), about 9 miles north, with passenger flights to U.S. cities like Denver, Chicago and Los Angeles.
