A large suburb in South Jacksonville
Creekside was in full swing after the Buckman Bridge opened in 1970. The population directly east of the St. Johns River, deep in South Jacksonville, boomed – and Creekside's housing stock started to skyrocket in the 1980s. Single-family homes on sizable, leafy lots began to attract growing families, and the neighborhood's proximity to Julington Creek and the St. Johns River intrigued sailors and anglers. "It's a great area to live in if you are into water recreation of any kind, and it's close to shopping and dining," says local Realtor Joanie Heighes with Engel and Volkers First Coast. Heighes has sold homes across the region for nearly two decades. "Many people own fishing boats and sailboats, or kayaks and canoes." As more residents moved to the area, parks started to develop, local restaurants began to pop up, and neighbors started to get to know one another. "There's a real sense of community over in Creekside," says local Realtor Alicia Slater of Momentum Realty, who grew up in Neptune Beach. "It's classic suburbia, just very family friendly."

I love Mandarin and all the parks, shopping and family atmosphere. I wish that they would do more to clean up trash on local roads. During the Hurrican this year the city was able to help us and people around us recovery and rebuild. The community is very strong and we all bond together in times of need. I hope that people will become more involved with the history and nature around mandarin and invest more times in the beautiful parks mandarin offers.

People in Jacksonville are highly personable and incredibly helpful. When I first moved there I felt as if everyone was willing to lend a helpful hand. Not only are people kind, but the overall atmosphere is kind and beautiful. As a historic are, the city is culturally rich. New businesses and communities are always up and coming, so this city is far from ever losing is luster.
