Quiet neighborhood on the banks of Goodby's Creek

Along the woodsy banks of its namesake waterway, Goodby's Creek offers a quiet lifestyle with easy access to fishing and boating near the east bank of the St. Johns River. "Everyone loves this area," says Realtor Bobbi Brennan with Pursuit Real Estate, who's been selling homes for 15 years. "It's close to the water, so people are often taking out their boats, and there are great restaurants and breweries near the creek. It's also close to The Bolles School, which is a very desirable private school." The neighborhood is close to San Jose Boulevard, which offers restaurants, grocery stores and shopping centers. Homes here range from modest ranch-style houses to luxury condos, making Goodby's Creek a desirable community for those wanting to buy on Jacksonville's southside.

The park also features a kayak launch area and trails that meander through the woods along Goodby's Creek. Those with larger vessels can launch them downstream at the John T. Lowe Boat Ramp, where they can go out onto the St. Johns River, a busy fishing area for bass and red drum. The neighborhood is also a short distance from the San Jose Country Club, where members can spend a day on the green, play tennis, use the pool or dine at the club's restaurant.

Along Goodby's Creek, locally loved restaurants like Stonewood Grill and Tavern and 1928 Cuban Bistro draw locals and visitors to the area. Brennan notes that Wicked Barley Brewing Company is the local go-to. "It's one of the most popular places to go on the southside," Brennan says. "You can pull up on your boat and dock at the brewery. It gets pretty busy, especially on the weekends." The Avenues shopping mall is also roughly 5 miles away for major retail shopping, offering retail outposts and department stores.
