Tight-knit neighborhood west of downtown Jacksonville
Herlong/Normandy Manor is a tight-knit retreat within the massive metropolis of Jacksonville. "People that live here like the family dynamic with great schools and great activities," says Janel Williams, Realtor at Watson Realty Corp. "We have a lot of activities our kids can engage in, so we rarely have to leave the area." This laid-back neighborhood sits about 12 miles west of downtown Jacksonville, with residential areas surrounded by densely packed woods. Sandwiched between commercial roadways, Herlong/Normandy Manor is well connected to downtown Jacksonville.
The neighborhood reflects the diversity of the larger city, with people from many different backgrounds. "You've got farmers, entrepreneurs, those who work in finance -- almost every profession," Williams says. They don't need to leave the neighborhood to find schools, grocery stores, restaurants and community events like youth sports games that bring residents together. It continues to grow with new housing developments and businesses including a new grocery store and gas station. The Herlong Recreational Airport makes up a large portion of the neighborhood's northwest side. It's noticed by few, serving mostly quiet sport aircraft and gliders.

Most of the people that live here have lived here since the place was built in 2004. I know mostly everyone near my house and I speak to all of them when I see them and they are nice. Many people have pets and I've watched my neighbor's dog on plenty of occasions. People here are quiet and just want a place to live in peace.

I have only seen one or two people move out in my area and the people are friendly. Usually greeted with a smile.
