Bessie the Cow is a tourist attraction

This part of Janesville is known for a tourist attraction that is also a photo opportunity. Since 1966, a fiberglass cow named Bessie has stood on the side of Milton Road near Arby’s and in front of a Menards Home Improvement. The cow has been there since 1966 and was part of what used to be the Janesville Oasis, a spot off the highway for travelers that was a restaurant and gift shop. It was demolished in 2006, but the public wanted Bessie to stay. She stands 16 feet tall and symbolizes Wisconsin’s rich dairy heritage.
