Seven Oaks offers tranquil, verdant suburbia and amenities 30 miles from Atlanta
The city of Johns Creek is a northern Atlanta satellite suburb that has been lauded as one of the most livable in the nation, featuring on and topping charts released by organizations from Forbes to Niche. The artfully planned neighborhood of Seven Oaks is a concentrated haven of the qualities its city has become known for: an active, family-centric community, a well-kept network of suburban homes and lush green spaces. “Seven Oaks is very amenity-rich. There’s a swimming team for the children, tennis and pickleball, walking trails, gazebos – when you drive in, you pass this large lake and all the trees. It’s very serene,” says Julie Meinert, a Realtor at Keller Williams North Atlanta with multiple decades of experience serving the Johns Creek, Alpharetta and Roswell markets. “It has a high quality of living. You’re getting a lot of value for your money, not only in square footage but also from the amenities and lifestyle that is created.” Paired with highly rated northern Fulton County schools and a growing collection of town center shopping destinations, Seven Oaks is able to offer a full range of suburban conveniences just about an hour outside of Atlanta.
New Traditional homes in a tranquil, tree-shaded suburban plan
Seven Oaks is a hilly triangle of cul-de-sacs and sidewalk-lined suburban streets organized into smaller neighborhoods called The Preserve, The Meadows and The Commons. Street names like Magnolia Circle and Sunset Maple Terrace reflect its leafy, natural look, from a mature tree canopy that shades backyard pools and younger trees and neat landscaping that decorates front lawns. Various New Traditional single-family home styles have been built from the late 1970s to the 2000s, but many take on familiar asymmetrical Craftsman-inspired forms and boxy Colonial Revival styles that date to the 1990s. Homes typically offer upward of four bedrooms, attached garages and sit back on grassy lots ranging from a third of an acre to an acre. Prices usually range from around $900,000 to $1.4 million, but smaller lots and older construction can go in the $800,000s, and especially large properties can crest $1.5 million. Buyers will pay a monthly HOA fee of $175 plus an initiation fee of over $2,000 when they first join the community. Seven Oaks has a CAP Index Crime Score of 1 out of 10, much lower than the national average of 4.
High ratings at Fulton County schools from elementary to Northview High
Kids will attend Findley Oaks Elementary School and River Trail Middle School, which both earn an A from Niche, followed by the A-plus-rated Northview High School. As of 2025, Niche also ranks Northview as the best public high school in Fulton County and one of the top five in all of Georgia. The high school’s reputation for academic rigor is partially thanks to the optional Northview Pathways, a selection of 13 career-preparatory academic programs under the umbrellas of science & technology, medicine, business & leadership and art & design. Students excel in dozens of extracurriculars outside the classroom, including the internationally recognized Tech Titans robotics team.
Outdoor recreation and clubhouse amenities in an active swim and tennis community
Seven Oaks’ clubhouse centers the community’s shared amenities. Around the event space and its parking lot, eight tennis courts and a soccer field offer space for practice and pick-up games. Neighbors might swim some laps in the outdoor pool or watch the kids compete on their neighborhood swim team; a diving board hovers over the attached deep end, while a separate pool offers a safe splash-down from a waterslide. At the nearby lake, anglers cast for freshwater fish, while others prefer to walk along the waterfront and soak in the sight of swans bobbing around the lake’s central fountain.
Shopping and dining at Avalon and Halcyon, the developing Medley
Seven Oaks is within a 15-minute drive of well-known shopping districts like the walkable Avalon and Halcyon developments in Alpharetta, as well as plenty of closer suburban strip malls. Johns Creek’s commercial center is about 2 miles away at the intersection of McGinnis Ferry and Medlock Bridge roads, anchored by retailers like Kroger and Lowe's. Local restaurants serving global cuisines like Rose and Olives Mediterranean Restaurant, Sumo Hibachi and Wings, and chains like City Barbeque and First Watch are popular. The mixed-use Medley development is set to infuse the city’s existing technology park with a walkable complex of residential, retail and entertainment establishments by the fall of 2026.
Commuting on Atlanta metro highways and from MARTA park and rides
Commuters will start down U.S. Route 19 toward Interstate 85 on the roughly 30-mile drive to downtown Atlanta. While metro traffic is a fact of life, as is a commute that can stretch to well over an hour during peak rushes, some may choose to drive 10 miles to the Mansell Road Park & Ride to board a MARTA bus. Emory Johns Creek Hospital is much closer at only around a mile or two from home, while Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is more than 40 miles away.
An age-spanning array of Seven Oaks community events
Meinert speaks highly of Seven Oaks’ active social scene. “Because it’s a community with so many amenities, you immediately have the opportunity to meet people, participate in events and create community not only for children but for adults.” Newsletters, a posted bulletin board near the clubhouse and a private Facebook group keep residents abreast of what’s going on, from round robins on the tennis courts and kids’ swim meets at the pool to wine tastings and socials at the clubhouse to annual traditions like the Fall Festival and Diwali celebration.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
