Wellington is a welcoming swimming and tennis neighborhood in Johns Creek

Wellington is a suburban development set in verdant hills 30 miles outside of Atlanta – the kind of well-manicured tennis and swimming community that Johns Creek has become known for. Beyond the complementary cul-de-sacs of single-family homes and leafy landscaping, the proximity to highly rated public schools and the lively commercial districts, Wellington also stands out for its well-developed community life. “Wellington is only trending up. I can’t speak highly enough of the culture, everyone's really welcoming,” says Naimah Doggette, a sales associate with Norluxe Realty who has more than a decade of experience serving the greater Atlanta metro area. “It’s a pretty quiet place, but they have neighborhood groups and community events. That’s one of the things I love about the northern suburbs – Atlanta is fun, but you’ll also definitely find your people here.”
The Wellington community offers a spacious and thoughtfully planned layout, perfect for families seeking both privacy and connection.

New Traditional single-family homes in an HOA community

The new traditional single-family homes that fill Wellington blend classic Colonial Revival aesthetics with the design trends of the late 20th century: larger floor plans, attached garages and plenty of space in front yards for garden beds and landscaping. Some sloping cul-de-sacs offer smaller lots and homes with a few bedrooms, while other parts of the neighborhood are laid out with more space between homes, allowing for higher square footage. Prices range from around $470,000 to $720,000. Monthly homeowner association fees are less than $100. Wellington has a CAP Index Crime Score of 1 out of 10, much lower than the national average of 4.

Amenities for Wellington’s casual and league athletes

Tennis fanatics reserve time slots for matches and practice on Wellington’s eight courts, as do some adult and youth leagues. Nearby, kids hit the playground or head to the pool area for a meeting of the Wellington Waves swim team. When the team isn’t in the water, the pool and neighboring wading pool are open to the community, though lifeguard hours will vary throughout the year. The clubhouse is often a venue for events organized by community groups and the HOA, and residents are welcome to rent the space for their own get-togethers.

Commuting around northern Atlanta suburbs and south to Atlanta

Emory Johns Creek Hospital and the many companies that operate in the Johns Creek Technology Park are about 2 miles away. Those commuting to Atlanta have a roughly 30-mile drive on State Route 400 and Interstate 85. While Atlanta’s northern suburbs are largely car-dependent, residents can choose to drive about 9 miles to board a MARTA bus at the Mansell Road Park & Ride. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is about 40 miles from home.

Shopping and dining at Avalon and in Johns Creek

Alpharetta and other neighboring northern Atlanta suburbs are home to popular, walkable outdoor shopping malls. “You’re maybe 10 minutes from Avalon. They’ve got top-notch shopping, outdoor restaurants, and they set up an ice-skating rink in the wintertime,” Doggette says. Strip malls in and around Johns Creek position familiar retailers like Kroger, T.J. Maxx and Target within several miles of home. The restaurant scene around these strip malls is diverse, ranging from national chains like Chili’s to local spots specializing in different global cuisines like Rose and Olives Mediterranean Restaurant. Johns Creeks' own mixed-use retail development, Medley, will be built nearby in the coming years.
Shopping in Alpharetta's Avalon is a delightful and effortless experience, featuring a vibrant atmosphere filled with a diverse array of stores and charming boutiques, all within a short drive from Wellington.
