Rich history, strong community
Moxham, one of Johnstown’s most storied neighborhoods, is a place where history and community come together. Established during Johnstown's industrial boom, Moxham was home to the workers and families who built the city. Today, the neighborhood retains much of its historic charm, with its stately homes, tree-lined streets, and a close-knit community that takes pride in its heritage. “You have access to a lot of the nearby commercial stuff but it’s still very suburban in nature,” says Fran Pletcher, owner at Keller Williams Exclusive Realty Johnstown. “You still have that peace and quiet that people are looking for out here.” The area has a rich architectural legacy, with many homes showcasing intricate woodwork, stained glass, and other period details that reflect its past – a history that’s not just visible in its architecture but also in its strong sense of community.
Get around easily thanks to State Route 56, U.S. Route 219
Moxham’s central location in Johnstown provides residents with easy access to the city’s amenities and services. Major roads like state Route 56 and U.S. Route 219 make commuting to other parts of Johnstown and nearby areas straightforward. “It’s a great spot for commuters,” says Pletcher. “You can be downtown in around 10 minutes, which is great for people who want to work there but live a bit farther out.” Public transportation options, including bus routes that run through the neighborhood, further enhance connectivity.
Traditional homes with original character
Moxham offers a variety of housing styles, from grand Victorian homes to more modest Craftsman bungalows. In addition, prospective homebuyers can find a number of traditional styles. Many homes feature original details like ornate woodwork, stained glass windows and wraparound porches. “It’s a pretty even mix of older homes and newer homes,” says Pletcher. “But they’re usually all traditional in style – a lot of ranches and split levels.” Prices range from $50,000 to $150,000.
